Really bad Download speed

Hi there.

I have recently upgraded to Limewire Pro Beta. 4.13.2

I was hoping to get a better download speed as using the free Limewire was really slow aswell, but it still isnt no better.

Perhaps its my computer? or possibly something to do with my firewall or internet issue?

i will provide u with some details and perhaps u can throw some light on my issue. its terrible, because with my old internet server i was able to download really fast. but now its like 0 to 4 really slow.

Windows Xp Home Edition, Service Pack 2.

1.5 gb Ram
1Gb P3 processor
30 Gb Hard Disk

Internet: BT Broadband, 1Gb internet speed.
Modem: BT Home Hub Router
Firewall: Norton Firewall
Anti Virus: Norton Anti Virus.
Windows Firewall also activated.
The norton came with the bt service.

i have not changed anything in the limewire preferences, i did do but changed them all back to restore defaults. so can anyone help me on my issue?

BT are known to throttle p2p speed:(...do speeds pick up if you download outside of peak hours? The article below will tell you BT's peak times & there's also some info about their bandwidth management.

There are a couple of things you could try but to be honest, it's probably not going to make much difference...you could try changing ports (in LW tools > options > advanced > firewall config, change listening port to 64049 or something in the range of 49152 - 65535 > Apply > ok).
Do you see the firewall icon (brick wall in front of the blue globe)? If so, you could also try port forwarding for your Home Hub. The instructions are here.
Port Forwarding for the BT Home Hub
LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within the Home Hub all have to be the same number;)
