No search results Hi everyone. I am also having difficulties getting songs to appear when I do a search. For example, I did a search on Tim McGraw the other day and many songs appeared, however, now when I do it I only get 7, and the search tab says "tim mcgraw (20)", which I thought meant 20 songs should be displayed. Does anyone have any suggestions. I am on the same computer as the other day and even upgraded to Pro with no success! Other searches, such as genre searches, bring up no results at all. Very frustrating! Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated! |
I am running the Limewire 4.12.15 w/ the new Vista program. |
It could be the License warning thing. Just have a look, Go, Tools/Options/Searching/Basic, it says, "Show License Warning" Untick the box if you don't want to filter out copyright Files in search results. This option is enabled at setup, The choice is your decision. Do a test to see if search results improve. You can reverse this change at any time, the choice is yours. P.S. A file that requires a license, is protected so if you obtain a license or not, that file cannot be shared. So don't put those files in your shared folder. That will cause more frustration to others as they play only silence. Peace. |
Thanks for the suggestion, however, my box was already unticked. Do you (or anyone else) have any other suggestions)? |
I could be wrong about this but, since most of the songs that you download come from other users, maybe those other users aren't online when you search for songs by Tim McGraw. After all, if they're not connected, you can't download them. Just a thought. :) |
Interesting. I'm a "newbie" at this so don't know much about it, but I've tried a HUGE variety of songs and/or genre and just don't get anything 99% of the time, so you think my luck would be a little better than that :o) |
I've had Limewire for a couple of years but I'm new to this forum. I just ran a search for Tim McGraw and came up with 150 songs. Have you tried a search for his songs lately? |
I did a song search with no luck and then tried artist search and still only get about 7 songs. |
Waynenchristi I am inclined to agree with Chaines057 when he said: Quote:
Also, I have found in my experience that some times are better than others for finding files, e.g. weekends are better than weekdays. So I would suggest you pick your times when you go looking for files because very few of us P2P users, except for the real die hard enthusiasts, are going to keep there computers running all day and night, seven days a week. I agree with UKbobboy01. Nights are always better during the week and weekends are usually always better than week nights. If you performed your search around the same time as I did and only got 7 songs, then something is not right. Please don't take offense to this next question, but are you connected to the network when you're performing these searches and, if so, look at the lower left hand corner and see what your connection is listed as. My connection right now is "Turbo-Charged". |
No offense taken as I will certainly admit to not being the brightest when it comes to solving technical issues on my computer. In the bottom left corner it says "starting connection", however, I can do a genre search under country and it pulls up some songs but other genres do not. Any advice? |
Ok...I am still not having any luck! My sister-in-law, who has an older version of Limewire and is on the Windows XP system, gets about 10 x more search results than me every time --- no matter what time of the day, so I am pretty sure that is not the problem!! Does anyone have any other suggestions. I have emailed Limwire Pro Tech Support, but am pretty disappointed in that I haven't heard a thing in about 2 weeks. They are the reason why I upgrade in the first place. |

Try going back to this version of java, that one can be a problem. Now! Go to, START/Set Program Access/Change or Remove Programs, now completely remove all versions of java. Re BOOT Your computer NOW. Now! Use this Blue Link to get "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 12" Use the off line installer, NOT the (recommended) one, 4th one down. Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5 When Download is completed. Disconnect from internet, close ALL apps n reinstall java. Also check this. Port Forwarding for the Norton Internet Security 2007 If you feel that your Norton isn't configured properly with Limewire, Click on this Blue link...it will help you Configure it. Port Forwarding for the Norton Internet Security 2007 Peace. |
1 Attachment(s) Well Waynenchristi It seems you will have to either enable UPnP on Vista, LW and your modem, that is if you have administration rights to Vista and your modem. or Port Forward which will require you to configure Vista, LW and your modem, again you will need administration rights for your hardware and software. However, initiating UPnP is easier to perform and could solve your problem, I suggest that you read your modem's manual on how to get UPnP running on Vista and on your modem. As for LW, it just a radio button, see my screen print: UK Bob |

Tawny - I have no clue what happened, but yestserday afternoon and today again I am "turbo charged", so it is definitely a connection problem on my end, however, the funny thing is, I didn't change anything! :o) |
