Gold Padlock
 

Good morning everyone
I am having trouble downloading ANY songs at all as it keeps telling me (it being Limewire ) that unless there is a Gold Padlock beside the song title in the Quality line i cant download it '
Im an older user but dont feel i am stupid so could someone please help me???

Try deleting LW's preference folder with LW completely shut down. See points 2 & 3 in this thread: Fixes for Limewire. This will reset all your option settings, so make a note of them first.

But...
The padlock notice you see at the top of your searches is to notify you of a particular search result that contains a virus...
It's a 75.7 KB .exe & shows up as "Urgent LW update - download & install now". If people download that thing they could end up infected. To try to prevent careless people from downloading a dangerous file, the warning banner was added to LW's interface.

The padlock symbol doesn't apply to music or video etc, only to LW updates...

I actually know that one, but the user talked about the padlock next to songs,.....so I thought there might have been a mix-up mess with the preference folder...:D

But of course, if it happens only with that stupid up-date nasty.....then just ignore it.....:)

Many thanks for the replys to my problem but being a woman and a blonde one at that .( need i say any more????) i have put down that the gold padlock is beside the songs in the quality column
This Gold Padlock is above and it says this .................
ONLY SEARCH RESULTS WITH A SYMBOL (GOLD PADLOCK ) ARE OFFICIAL LIME WIRE COMMUNICATIONS

No worries,.....whether blond or brunette we love all the girls.....and if I'm not mistaken, WW shares not only your gender with you......:D......(I'm referring to your hair WW :p)

But she is right in that case, the message is referring only to supposed LW-updates.....

So, what happens if you made a search and tried to download on of the songs you're interested in? Does it go to the Download window below or not?

If it doesn't, do as I recommended in my earlier post. With deleting this folder you kinda reset LW to its default state and when you re-open LW it will ask you again for certain configuration preferences (such as Language) and in that procedure it will ask you something about downloads with (without) license. Just tell them that you want to download even if there is no license for that particular file.

Let's see whether that can solve your issue...
