Warning! Don't Install 4.14!

LimeWire 4.14 severely reduces the search results you get by discarding everything that some entity beyond our control has decided is "junk." Changing junk filter options appears to have absolutely no effect on this "feature" and THE PREVIOUS BEHAVIOR CANNOT BE RESTORED BY UNINSTALLING 4.14 AND REINSTALLING 4.12. I have been waiting 3 days for someone to respond to my email request for support on this issue (I'm running LimeWire Pro.) I think that this was done intentionally for some reason. I have tried deleting all folders with "LimeWire" in the name in hopes of deleting all LimeWire configuration so that I can install the old version from scratch, but no success. I may have to reformat if don't get any support and if I can't figure out where LimeWire stores this configuration information. Don't be a victim of this "feature."

freon, which OS are you running?

Hiya Zarabaath... I have edited this post because, as you can see, I moved the post form Deshaze.

Same Problem

With 10.4.10, intel machine with Limewire 4.14.8 and Java 1.5.0_07, no searches show junk. I've searched for various things, clearly too few results (several times less than with the previous release), no junk displayed.

Tried "forgetting the training data," no luck there either.

Attached is a picture of my junk filter menu (as it opens, so there's no problem with 'apply'). Yes, I've looked at the bottom of the search results too.

I WAS A VICTIM OF THIS TOO. I HAD PAID FOR THE PRO A LONG TIME AGO AND NOW I CANT GET IT BACK. I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO. IM VERY VERY MAD.

This is really annoying...

Although it has cut out the automatic junk (John Howard gets pranked etc.), another method of sabotaging Limewire was for anti-P2Pers to come on & mark good tracks as junk. I have downloaded so called "junk" tracks & got perfect songs - often the rare and unusual versions.

Now we can't even choose what we want & have put LimeWire into the control of the saboteurs!!!

I totally disagree. YOU Have to know what your doing. How to search and several other little tricks. I don't have any trouble and I have the Latest version and have had for as long as it's been out, so believe what you want. Do a little Research, Read, and Ask Questions, and you'll find out how it will all come together. There's a hole lotta crying going on. :cheesy:

I don't have any probs with it ether only thing I seen is files coming that limewire thinks I already have but it's different.

Hi Remoc - Can You Help Me With Torrents???

Thanks Remoc for reply. Unfortunately I am not very versed in computer sophistication (can't even change the default template in Word). A newby, but maybe a bit old & have been quite ill, with effects on my thought processes (temp), hence my addiction to computers. I'm not very familiar with the tips & tricks you mention. I have got as far as being able to do anything I want with LimeWire BUT:

By mistake, I found [Edit], clicked on a download button & a whole album magically appeared in LimeWire. Now I am trying to download [Edit], which no P2Per seems to have trax from, & when I press download it just sits in downloads saying "Locating Sources" & 0%. Could you possibly let me know step by step in words suitable for a three year old how to download torrents?

I am asking you, as I noticed you have answered this type of Question before, but when I look up Bittorrents, the jargon just goes over my head. e.g. I don't know what a URL is. Have normal PC with loads of hard drive space & XP Pro with all features working fine :newbie2: :bangh: :bangh:

Cheers from (not) sunny Australia

Avon, I have to apoligize to you because as I am very familure with the way Limewire works, I am NOT well versed when it comes to Torrents. I would love to help you but I don't want to ill advise. Sorry

Hopefully someone can come to the rescue and help you out.

This is all fascinating, but none of it solves the problem above. I *am* quite familiar with p2p, LimeWire, my system, and so on. Does anyone have a constructive suggestion for fixing the problem? I already included a screen shot from the relevant preferences screen, and it is set correctly - would more information help?

Remoc, michwayne: are you running with the same OS and Java that I am?

avon - check the [Edit] again for the torrent health. If there aren't many seeders around, it can take a very long time to get started. The best thing you can do is let it run for about a day (maybe even 36 hours), and if it hasn't started try to find another torrent for the same file that *does* have some seeders around.
