If not, maybe the problem is caused by Mac users, or maybe something else entirely.
The only illegal filename character on the Mac Classic is the colon. So I could share file/\.mp3 and that would screw a lot of people up but if you were to share file:.mp3 I would have problems based on what you found.

I can never get those dang files with the "\" too. Can't these problems be solved by adding a save as function where we can rename the file we want to download?

Sorry if I'm beating a dead horse here, but I'm on a Mac Classic (9.1.2) and files with a "/" that I try to download give the instant "100%" complete and "can't move to library" messages, even though files with forward slashes are OK on a mac. Maybe there's some other factor at work, as well?

The mystery deepens.

(Sorry I didn't thank you for your reply to my earlier question on this matter on the "open discussion" forum, efield)

could not move to library

I recieved the same error message at that point was sharing 1040 files. I did not notice if a slash was in file name or not. I thought there might be a file limit in windows OS. I moved all the shared files out and started sharing files again. Have not received error message again. This might be something that might need to be added as a feature to notify the user of a potential file name hazard. Limewire 2.2.1pro Thanks for your support.

I found out a couple days ago by surprise that this is the case. Odd considering a Mac Classic filename can have any sort of slash in it when it is named in the Finder; it's just LimeWire that doesn't like it.

Since my last post I have received 6 more of the same could not move to library errors. I believe that this is now part of a learning process of someone to place worms in MP3 files; currently, to launch popup ads to porno sites. Cnet article below.

Just another frustrated user (who downloaded limewire today).

Many many search results returned names with "/"s.

Very frustrating.

same problem, "could not move to library." it's about on every other file i download.
mdk 8.2
jre 1.4.1-beta-b14
lw 2.5.5

then that irritating ultrapeer bug, i want to connect to 5-6 at startup. not 3, and not needing to manually retype in 6 to do so.
