Help For Newby - Need Torrents For Dummies I am a newby so hi everyone. Can use ordinary Limewire & have just discovered torrents. I downloaded an album from PirateBay (or whatever) about a month ago, by pressing download & it just downloaded like magic, & the tracks play fine. Now I desperately want to download a rare *********CD from Pirate, but when I press download it asks me if I want to run or save it (I don't know - I'm not that computer literate) and whatever answer I give, nothing happens. I have looked up Wikipedia etc. but the answers are too technical for me. I really am a computer dummy. Don't know what a beta is. Can someone PLEASE give me a step by step guide for me to download from Pirate--- or Mininova or whatever - in English for three year olds that will work. Then I can get stuff on Limewire for everyone to share. I've got an ordinary PC with XP Pro & Limewire Pro 4.14.10. No trouble with other downloads from YouTube, News sites etc. Just this new torrent stuff. Cheers from Melbourne (should be sunny, but we're having a cold spring in OZ) :yikes:  :yikes:  __________________________________________________ Edited to comply with the House Rules. Try saving it! Try googling for torrent/bittorrent. Remember the copyright you violate may be your own :D. |
This is what I do.. Have LW sitting in the system tray... Find the torrent you want, read the feedback, it will let you know if the torrent is any good or not.. click on download, you will get the run or save window appear, select run, then it will automatically appear in the download window of LW... Now they don't always connect, sometimes you will get the locating sources and that can take awhile, but when it does find sources it will start to download.... Once downloaded it will be in your shared folder, to find this folder click on one of your files in your LW library and click on explore... The torrent will be sitting inside a folder, right click on the folder and select open... Now comes the tricky part, in that folder it may contain from 1 to 105 files.. If you have selected a torrent with between 1 to 5 files inside it's easy to identify which one your download is,as the size of it will let you know, then just copy and paste that 1 file into your shared folder... That way you can use it on your computer or you can burn it to disc if you choose to... The torrents that contain a high number of .rar files, need to be extracted using WinZip, WinRar or something similar... All you do is...Open WinZip and click on your torrent file and use the Wizard to extract all the files into 1...All you do then is the same as the steps above when you have 1 to 5 files... Another good thing to do with torrents is once you have finished downloading it, leave it seed for at least a few hours, so you are sharing back to the torrent community...;) Cheers from Brisbane, it's getting hot already..lol... |
