HELP! only search results with (lock) are official LW communications
 

I have LW Basic 4.14.10 . When I try a search on Audio I get a message saying "only search results with a (lock picture) are official LW communications. "

I have a wall in front of the globe and 3 green bars and 2 red bars. I tried disabling my Windows XP firewall and this does not help.

When I ran the old version of LW I did not have any problems like this.

Would someone please tell me why I keep getting this message.

Hi I'm going through the same thing I just updated and now I get this message that only ones with this lock are any good but there are none tht have this lock why is this happening and what is this lock anyway please help:bangh:

That padlock notice you see at the top of your searches is to notify you of a particular search result that contains a virus...
It's a 75.7 KB .exe & shows up as "Urgent LW update - download & install now". If people download that thing they could end up infected. To try to prevent careless people from downloading a dangerous file, the warning banner was added to LW's interface.

The padlock symbol doesn't apply to music or video etc, only to LW updates...

Jenny, the padlock sybmbol has nothing to do with any files apart from LW updates;)
If you're not connected properly, that can effect how many search results you see. Can you give us your details, as WW asked earlier?

For now, here are some things that might help with your search results.

1. In LW go tools > options > searching > basic & check whether the 'show license warning' box is ticked. If it does, untick it > Apply > ok...see if that makes any difference.

3. Delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location).

This will kill all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things.
