This has happened on numerous occasions... I search for a file.. hundreds of sources and versions of the file show up... i try one that has like 3-400 sources. it says connecting then begins a pointless counter... saying for example, 223 host tried.
I'd like to know how it can find these files and show me the sources then not be able to connect to any of 450 hosts (on one file I am trying to download) there is no logic in this at all.. if the file is there, on 450 peoples computers taht are connected to the network, why can't it download it.. when a file with 3 sources downloads it fine... furthermore, ill have 10 hostsconnected on one file, and get 40kb/s when the limit set in limewire is a minimum of 10.94 kb/s when i limit my upload bandwidth... and have my download bandwidth set to unlimited.. if these connections are cable and up as they say they are it should be, with 10 hosts a minimum of 109.4 kb/s. Even with dial up i should be getting more than 40kb/s from 10 hosts.. |

The answer to your first enquiry is more than likely a case of fake files...
This sticky will explain what they are and how to avoid them... http://www.gnutellaforums.com/downlo...h-results.html The answer to your second enquiry can vary depending on the speed of the hosts you are connected to and how much of their bandwidth they share, if they are behind firewalls and so on.. Make sure you aren't behind a firewall as well... And if you do get 40KB/s with a dial up connection you are doing very well..

well i g uess you didnt read thoroughly.. i never said i got 40kb/s with dial up... i said 10 hosts gets me 40kb/s .. and im not dumb enough to be behind a firewal and wonder why my internets is slow.. point is with 10 hosts you should never be getting less than 40kb/s dl.. even thats pathetic. no one with that bad of a connection should be sharing files or even able to use limewire.
especially when i have paid for this P.o.s i shoudl be abel to get decent speeds. |

Well don't complain here...You say you paid for Pro !! Go complain to them...
We just vounteer our time to these forums and if you don't like the replies you get you can shoot it out your ar$e.... If your such a computer guru you work out why you get crap speeds...Everyone has a right to use p2p whether their bandwidth is crap or not...

jesus christ squirk. this person was only trying to help you. fyi i have a firewall and with all my friends constantly telling me how dangerous lw is and programs like it plus with internet etc i wouldn't dream of NOT having one. despite that i still gets dl's of higher speeds than you. and also maybe some people's computers just don't have the capability of yours. if you're so bothered i'm sure you could drive to the shop, purchase what you want and get back home quicker than it apparently takes you to dl so either do that or stop whinging. whinger.
