Uploading a file

I'm trying to upload a mpg file so my friends can view however I use a shared file and followed what I think is the process however they can not see what I uploaded. My computers in my network here at the office can access it but outside can't. I can see the hits but no downloads. I don't know if this is a firewall issue or not. Please help if you can,

Thanks in advance,
Doug

1. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? (sample image)

2. Send them a magnet link of one of the files you wish to share, then see if they can download it; How to use Magnet Links & Direct Connect

3. Go to LW's menu bar, Tools > Options > Uploads > Slots & make sure both boxes have at least a number of 1 or higher. (Sample image, which is an image I posted for someone who wanted to limit uploads to one per person. You may wish to have these set higher.)

No, no brick wall...I can download other files, music...just fine. Maybe I'm not sharing this file properly? Step three is fine however I can't direct connect. I tried the Magnet links and they don't work. I tried it in my own browser and it told me I already had a copy do I want to download anyway. I said yes and it just shows waiting for sources and will not connect even to my own file? Seems like the only thing I can do is download, can't direct connect or upload.

Your file may be in a folder called 'individually shared files', in which case doing direct connect will not work. Your friends will instead have to do a general search for it under 'All Files'. Make sure that you have not requested that the file is not to be shared. Right-click on the file and if one of the options is 'Share file', then click on that. Is the oval with a number in it red or green? If red, then you're not sharing any files at all.

You didn't understand the instructions. What you needed to do was "create a magnet link", copy & paste the magnet link into an email or chat message to send to your friends. Then as soon as they click on the link, LW or their default magnet handler program will open & start or attempt to download the file. But you need to be online at the same time for them to upload the file from you & you need to have available upload slots & bandwidth for them. ;)
