Default cannot preview

I am a new player and having problems in trying to preview my downloads such as movies even though the download percentage shows 70%. Previously using an older version (no problems) but now upgrade to 4.16.2. Also how do recover the unfinished d/l from the older version since it does not automatically moved to the new version d/l page. Please somebody help me out on this issue.

To move them back, go to LW's Library window, click thearrow next to Incomplete at bottom to open it, then select all the files & press Resume button. That will force them all back.

As for preview problems I am not sure. There are some video types that don't seem to preview or preview well for some odd reason. Best thing to do is go to incomplete folder in Library window, find your incomplete file & press Launch. If it doesn't open then it's a problem with your player or the file itself. (a) Make sure you have up to date CODECs. (b) Consider using VLC as a preview player. (c) Sometimes files don't download sequentially from start to finish but may download the first few bits or bytes then download a section in the middle or near the end etc., so the player cannot find the starting point or the needed bytes that tell the player what file it is & where to find the beginning point have not yet been downloaded.

Default Preview problems

Thank you for the tips. I have solved the preview problems when I follow your advice of making VLC as the default player. However I still cannot recover my lost incomplete files since they are no longer in the library because the current L/W version is the updated one, Those files are in the older version but I can find them in the incomplete folder of my 'C' local disk. Can I still redownload them by way of recovering them from the hard disk? Also I have encountered another problem whereby the L/W signal is only at one green bar and it took quite some time to start downloading more so at a very slow pace(around 10-20 kb for two or three d/l concurrently). I have done everything as suggested in the HELP section such as checking my firewall. As you know, with one bar,the search function is not working. How do I overcome this problem Grandmaster LOTR?

CHeck the advice here http://www.gnutellaforums.com/306179-post17.html about connection with the new version.

Oh .. you installed the new version separately. Normally LW will remove the previous version at the beginning of the installation process.
Problem is, all the download information is stored in the download preferences called Download.dat & .bak. If you have started a new list in a new incomplete folder, then the new preferences won't have any record of how advanced the other incomplete files are if you moved them across. So I guess you need to make a decision, keep the new download prefs or use the old ones. To use the old ones you'd need to move ALL the files from the old incomplete folder to the new one & replace the new incomplete prefs, in which case you will lose records of your new incomplete files. SO it's realy a choice between one or the other.

K it's been reported amongst other helpers on the forums that the new LW version apparently creates a new download location. I don't have windows set up at moment so can't check to see what happens & how best to rectify it.
You have a few choices as suggested in my previous post. (a) Another is to revert to the old download location by going to Tools > Options > Saving & clicking browse button & change it back to your previous location. However, this will either affect your new or old downloads. I'd suggest you concentrate on your old ones. Go into the old incomoplete folder, make a copy of both the download.dat & download.bak & move them somewhere else. Then close LW after changing your download location as suggested. Then move the backed up copies of download.dat & .bak to the incomplete folder & replace the ones that are there. Thus keeping a record of your old downloads.
(b) Other alternative is the one in my previous post. Close LW, move all files from previous incomplete folder on C drive to the new one created after the update, & replace the download.dat & .bak files when requested to.

As for connection & speed issues, check my link above again. Disable the DHT in advanced settings. For windows this is found in Tools > Options > Advanced > Performance.

The DHT option seems to be a little buggy & I reported this to the LW programmers 6 months ago but one of them chose to be skeptical. It seems the problems it has have now surfaced more widely now with the newer version & changes to the gnutella network.
