Help... I am moving backwards - Well, my Downloads are!

Hi everyone. I have been using Limewire for some time and have never had this problem before. I was downloading a few movies and they started moving backwards. (98% down to 89% etc...) Then they just sat there for about a day. It says downloading from 7 hosts and however many kb/s and such like it is downloading, but it is not moving exept for every once in a while it will back up a percent or 2. Any ideas? Thank you in advance.:laugh_2:

That does not work too :(.

Mine is still going backwards.

One more thing however, this issue does not seem to affect my torrent downloads.

Only LimeWire specific downloads are being affected :(

having the same problem here, grrrr

:mad:Ive been having the same problem for a month now..have been continuously trying to download the same movie over and over..originally it was fine..was about 60 percent downloaded, and I decided to preview it..well, that did something and knocked it down to like 30 percent..then it seemed like it was never going to go any higher..so I cancelled it, deleted the incomplete file, and tried again..and have tried a few other times since then..for two or three days at a time, itll fluctuate between two different percents, before eventually getting past that and going up one..but Im beginning to think it may be a year before I have this whole file..its maddening!!

Try Phex (also a Java based client) and see if the same thing happens.

You can get it here

nitejonboy April 29th, 2008 06:34 PM

phex

wasnt impressed with Phex at all..looked up the file I was trying to download on Limewire, it had it, but it would be downloading it from Limewire..which is pointless since thats what Im trying to do. I just want to figure out why this is happening and why my downloaded percentage keeps changing and taking so long.

Have you even tried downloading any other file in Limewire to check whether it's the file that's corrupt?

Oh and Phex is better than Limewire

;)

nitejonboy April 29th, 2008 07:06 PM

the file isnt corrupt because Ive previewed it and its played right up to the end of what it had downloaded so far..and Ive downloaded plenty of other files on Limewire..this is the first time Ive had this problem

Sleepless April 29th, 2008 07:09 PM

So you previewed part of the file, so it isn't corrupt?
You downloaded succesfully other files so it isn't corrupt?
You won't try another client that connects to exactly the same network, because it isn't corrupt?

Good luck with that

If I remember correctly then Limewire should be able to display how much corrupt data is being sent by rightclicking the file and selecting something which I can't remember.

P.S. Ever thought about that just maybe the file is ok but the host(s) sharing are sending bad data?

going backwards

I've had the same problem on a few downloads,I went into wmp opened the sun java bit on the tools options on the right and it eventually said the file was corrupt. Not being sure if corrupt mean't there is a bit of info missing or that a virus is detected i just deleted file and gave up

The same thing happens to me with all large files. They start going backwards. They can't all be corrupt (seen this with about 10 .mpg files). Please help!
