Search results in only small kb files

Every time I do a search using Limewire, I get a list of files but all of them are in Kb's not Mb's (197.7 kb) and the file size is too small to be a program. When I go to open the file it's only a setup file. What's the problem? I can download a torrent OK but the searches using Limewire only show up as small Kb files.

i hope you didn't double-click any of those setup.exe files...
Files that are smaller than usual music files are quite often viruses.
Just because it's a small file does not mean anything in particular.
A lot of applications that are written in Assembly language are very small and sometimes virus files are written in that same code.
Be careful never open one of those files whatever you do.
As for LimeWire perhaps you could try downloading and re-installing LimeWire and see if that makes any difference.
Otherwise Read all the "Sticky" threads at the top of these forums and hope that a solution to your particular problem has been mentioned.

It does appear that the usability of LimeWire is seriously compromised
by the action of virus spawn bots on Gnutella.
-
I used to run LimeWire Pro, but had so much trouble with this happening
today that I decided to clear the system out completely just in case I had
unwittingly had something placed on my system which always connected
me with a specific peer churning out this stuff.
-
I removed all (detectable) traces of LimeWire from my drives, using as
thorough a Finder search as possible. I then downloaded LimeWire Basic
for a fresh start. After installation and setting up, the problem remains.
-
LimeWire has thus become UNUSABLE ! Every search, in every category,
returns dozens of 100-115kB zip files containing "setup.exe". Luckily, I'm
on a G4 Mac so these things don't bother me, but I feel great sympathy
for PC users who may have inadvertently opened this kind of c**p.
-
Obviously, you can filter ".exe" files but you CAN'T filter ".zip", when
99% of what you're genuinely searching is likely to be zipped.
-
It is a great shame that the P2P concept has become rendered untenable
by the actions of a few perverted minds.

If you read the "Sticky" posts at the beginning of these forums there is a specific reference (and solution) in some of them to this particular problem involving multiple zip files.
I wish I could give you the exact URL to find it but if you read a few of those "Sticky' threads I'm sure you will find the article I am talking about.
Try this thread and see if it helps: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/open-d...some-info.html
Otherwise I suggest posting a new topic with a specific heading about these multiple zip files appearing in your download slots.
Good Luck!

er, eckchewally a very great number of those 'perverts' out there are major corporations who also, surprise, happen to be run by some truly outrageous mega-shˇts. It isn't only the entertainment industry spreading false and malignant files... doings thing that are most definitely illegal.
