Interesting "Glitch" using Direct Connect

I have a Peer to Peer Ethernet network between my old XP and my new Vista.
I typically download onto one, then using Direct Connect put a copy on the other.
Typical speeds are maybe 750mb, so it takes 3 -4 seconds to copy the song.
Today on several songs, I got "Waiting on Busy Hosts" on several of the songs.
Both computers have "Turbo-Charged Connections" and no other uploads or
downloads going on. I copied maybe 25 songs, but 3 are "stalled".
Gosh folks, I don't know about other hosts, but mine wasn't busy.
While I had the "Waiting on Busy Hosts" message, I downloaded
several songs from the same host (my other computer).
I have noticed "a touch" of this before when I was direct connected
the speed would go way down if the transfer saw 2 sources.
Any Thoughts??

Just to confirm...
When you say, "direct connect", are you referring only to you using Limewire or is it in re: to one of the various Direct Connect programs ?

Have you recently updated or fresh installed a new version of Limewire ?
Is your 'old' computer running XP Home or Professional, or maybe 2000 Pro ?
If the answer is XP Home, that may be part of the problem.

Also, it would be a good idea for you to...

Sorry I brought the subject up!! No more forum for me!!

buy a crossover cable and directly connect both of your machines to each other and this will allow for a very speedy transfer of files...

hmmm....but, from what I can read from your post I suspect that both of the computers are possibly running from the same router...if this is so, then why not just network the machines and do the transfer that way?

I use LimeWire Pro and have been using it without any problem for a few years now, until recently that is. Since a couple of weeks I have the same problem as Oldbamaguy has. After direct connecting to another host and after starting downloading files, some downloads get stuck in "Waiting On Busy Host". I have deleted all the incomplete files (from my incomplete folder) and tried to download them again, but the specific files keep on going back to "Waiting On Busy Host", while other files from the same host I can download. It seems limewire remembers these specific files and put them back in the same mode. Any idea if/how I can get these files completely out of the system? Or anyone know other sollution to this problem?

ps. I am a n00b that shouldn't criticize the advice of others

There seem to be some problems with newer Limewire version, so if you guys recently upgraded then that could be a reason.

One thing worth trying though, is deleting the preference folder and setting everything up again, but as peerless said, in the case of computers being connected to the same router, it would be better to just set up shared network folders between them.
