No UPLOADS happening here...

I have yet to see anyone successfully download anything from my shared folder. Is it because of my firewall? I don't have to share my drive, do I??
People keep trying to domnload, they connect, but it stays at 0%.

I have the same problem

I have the exact same problem. I am pretty sure it has something to do with your firewall. I am using a linksysa cable/dsl firewall. I haven't been able to find anywhere on the limewire help files or anything exactly which ports need to be open on the firewall to make it work. I think just the default port has to be open incoming and outgoing, but since it isn't working for me I can't say for sure. I will keep trying to figure out a solution and post a reply here later....

I've seen the same problem where no one is able to upload from me. I'm not behind a firewall either, just directly connected via cable modem to the TimeWarner RoadRunner ISP. Not one person has been able to download any of my shared files although I've seen many attempts. Something seems broken to me. I'm wondering if one needs a particular version of Java on the system for Limewire to run properly?

BTW, I have tried limewire behind a Linksys router/firewall and to get that to work go to advanced setup then to the forwarding tab and forward ports 6436-6451 BOTH to whatever IP address your system has on the LAN side of the router (on Windows one can run winipcfg to see this). You'll also need to configure limewire in the advanced/firewall setting and select "force ip address" and then fill in the address that the ISP has assigned the Linksys router (the WAN address). Look at the status page on the Linksys router admin webpage to see that info.

Another piece of info is that I'm running Limewire 2.2.3 Pro.
Also note that I am able to get a autoconnections established and I've seen that Limewire netstats shows over 1000 hosts sometimes. I've also been able to successfully download files recently. So I don't think my problem is my network setup.

I just rechecked my limewire statistics and it reports that there were 5 uploads so if this means there were 5 successful uploads then perhaps some people are able to upload from me but from what I can tell from watching the monitor view the vast majority of uploads are failing with a transfer interrupted message (this is leaving my system up on the net for 24 hours).

No uploads with Windows XP

I too have not had any uploads since changing OS's. I'm now running xp which has a firewall feature. I think that's the problem, but I haven't a clue how to fix it. I've got some rare files I'd like to be sharing.

Anyone with XP that knows how to solve this problem?

Uploads in Win XP

Go to the Control Panel - Administrative Tools - local security policy- IP Security Policies on Local Computer - Secure Server - Filter Action - Permit

you can correct the permission there to allow uploading... I wish I could provide a better explaination but I'm still new to XP. I have the linksys router also and you will need to forward port 6346

I hope this helps...

My control panel doesn't have a "Administrative Tools" link. I'm running XP home edition. Any suggestions?

upload problem with 2.3.3

i got limewire pro too. current version is 2.3.3.

no one can upload from me either. my old version of limewire
1.7 is GREAT. uploads are no problem. I like how the new
version downloads, but w/no uploads??????????????????

i'm using zonealarm pro as my software firewall. tried everything.
still, no one can upload. I think it's a problem with the new
versions of limewire.

Same problem, but with Mac OSX version

I don't get any uploads, either, but I have no Control Panel and no Administrative Tools to adjust. I do not use a PC. What should I check or adjust for Macintosh OSX?

I've had the same problem for some time now, since one of the 2.2 versions I believe. I'm using 2.4.3 now and I'm still noticing the same results.

This is what I've discovered so far:

Firewalls are not responsible for this problem.
Although I'm behind a NAT firewall, I have port forwarding turned on and people can connect. My IP is forced so the network can see it. I use a software firewall too, which is configured to allow connections both ways (from TCP or UDP) for LimeWire. People are connecting successfully, and that's why they're still appearing as valid uploads in LimeWire.

According to the firewall's transmission reports, the very first packet of an upload (8K or 16K) goes out, and then it just freezes there. Push downloads, which also connect in, work fine. This is a transmission protocol problem of some kind.

I'd guess an error was introduced in one of the recent upgrades. Whether it affects all systems or just some, I don't know. What I do know is that my system can't upload anything except at 8K or 16K at a time.
