When there's a check next to the song, that means you already have it. Do you have the file, or did you ever have the file?

i dont have the file yet.. :(

Example:
i downloaded a song "Blah" then i search again for a new song named "hohohoho" then the song "hohohoho" has already a check on it. and when i DL it. it will say that "you already have this song . . . . .. . " but when you continue and play the song "hohohoho" the song "Blah" is the one who will play. i really need help.

Could be hohohoho.mp3 is the mis-named file Blah.mp3. Even more likely if both are from the same band.

wondering why July 23rd, 2008 12:34 PM

Tekkenboy...I ran into the same problem a few days ago as well, the checked icon appeared in every search I did....I double checked with the search in itunes just to make sure that I didn't have the file already and I didn't...

In the end I avoided these files and selected another to download with success....

Why do these appear?? Not sure as yet, maybe another deterant from an outside source ie a fake....;)

Look for a hohohoho with a different filesize.

Sometimes these bad copies get spread quickly. I guess some people don't realize that the mis-named crap in their shared folder will show up in another's search results. And there are people (agencies, companies, etc.) who make money by spreading that crap, in hopes of making you frustrated and ready to bang your head against a wall.

If what you seek is something that was recorded recently, you'll likely see more fake files; epecially with movies. I find it best to wait awhile for the fake files to be deleted and info on the remaining files can be found on Bitzi. Checking files with Bitzi before downloading is a must. Info on that and other useful tips can be found in the Getting Started Using LimeWire threads.
