Help!! All downloads say Requery sent.... I can not get anything to download! Help! |
Re: Help!! All downloads say Requery sent.... the sme for me....not sure if it makes a difference, but I just "paid" and downloaded an upgrade to Limewire Pro.....would that make a difference ? never had this problem prevously...but tried to do the right thing by payiing my share. and now, every search I try to download says REQUERY..... |
Not able to Download/Upload...? Hey if somebody can help me out, I have been using limewire since the beginning with no problems....however, I just updated my 2.1.3 to the new 2.2.3 and now I can't download anything, and nobody can upload from me....It searches and finds entries, but after I double click on an entry it will just stay at 0kbs and say downloading..., or requery sent, or downloading from 0 hosts, and I just don't know what the hell to do. SO, if there is some pro out there who can help me out that would be GREAT! Thanks. |
same problems I also can get nothing to download, but my message is different. It always says "waiting XXs for 1busy". Then when it gets down to zero seconds it starts over at 60. What I have tried: 1) Varying the connections, and the approximate number to keep. 2) Disconnecting and reconnecting. 3) Disconnecting every other network connection I use. 4) Both enabling and disabling ultrapeer capabilities 5) Making my shared folder really big to see if I'm being denied for connection preferencing or freeloading (which I seriously doubt, but thought I'd try anyway.) 6) Even rebooting! I am running 2.2.3 on a linux box with Java 1.4.0. My connection is plenty good, cable with which I have peaked at about 500kbs. I doubt my ISP has refused the appropriate port connections because I have, in three days, been able to download ONE file, a small mp3 that took 30 minutes. That is, unless they block most but not all. I'm wondering if my problem is external to my system and ISP. |
I have the exact same issues. I bought the Limewire 2.2.3 PRO and have not been successfull downloading 1 file. What is starting to tick me off is that people can upload from me all they want. This is beyond annoying. Never thought that when I bought the paid version, I would have more trouble. Any suggestions? All my connection properties and preferences have remained the same. |
Same here. :( |
Funny how no one "in the know" has responded to this. BTTT  |
yep same ere who i zin the know |
I hear you!!!! This is a mental tease!!! I miss M*******!!!! In my opinion Limewire is only an address with no real content !! It is an illusion!! shame on limewire for making people pay for dreams!!! counting the days for M*****s, the second coming! |
Did you find out anything? Hi, I experience the same things you do trying to use Limewire Pro. I wonder if you have made any discoveries or gotten any real help to get your downloading up and running. If you've made progress, could you tell me about it. I'd sure appreciate the info. Thanks, Dan |
god damn it who came up with that **** of "requiry sent wating for reply" i hate that i halft to wate for like 10,000 sec. for it to look for more ppl to dl form that is bull**** i should tell it to download somting walk away go off to vacation for a week what ever and come back and it is downloaded i satsfied but confuesed user michael brooks |
So... I am not the only one Well, I too bought the new limewire and can't download a thing. I have tried all the things you folks have. What is the deal. Usually can't even find what I search for, when I do, all I ever see is "requery" or on the rare occassion a download starts, it gets about halfway and quits. |
ps I counted 29 ads while my message was posting... no wonder it took forever. Almost as bad as the program... |
Re: Not able to Download/Upload...? Hi, I have exactly the same issues. My old download of LimeWire six weeks ago worked great. Now the updated Pro get no downloads and only shows seconds to go (which it keeps repeated) or 0 hosts. Everything else works but this, the most important thing. Have you found a solution? Please tell me. Thanks |
If you do an re-search it helps and some of the files resume the download... |
tip I have only just started using limewire .. because gnut usually doesn't download now (must be some of those new clients with 'advanced features') .. anyway, here is a tip based on my experience: I can usually download, if the host is willing and the item hasn't been queued too long. It is when it is queued for a while that this requery bullsh starts, so ... 1. I set number of simultaneous searches quite high (for me 10 is quite high) so I can keep old ones open and run parallel searches for the same guff 2. When I find a likely source for some guff I like, I leave the search like that, and move onto another search window to continue to look for the same item, but a better version/faster source 3. But first I cue up the item I want. I make sure I don't cue up many items at a time, and that way they don't stay there too long and start this requery bullsh. 4. When an item has been cued for a while, say if the requery time >300s, I kill the download out of the cue, and recue it from the search window which I have left open for that purpose. ** Note for any developers ** This sux, and the requery time should never clime above 400s. Some fool obviously just set it to double every time it fails whatever the f*** it is doing. What is it doing anyway? |
PS Me again .. PS I don't know if it actually helps get the things downloaded. But at least I don't see Requery sent wainting 6123s for reply! What a ridiculous time to wait for something! That's like 6 hours! |
Killing the ads is easy....... try trashing lime prefs if your in os 9. |
PPS yeah it does help but not much - must be some dodgey clients out there won't allow uploads or something ;-) |
The LimeWire Beta solved all my download problems! I had every single download problem mentioned on this thread. It all started when I downloaded the latest version of Limewire Pro. I had multiple Q & As with Limewire service and support, but nothing helped. THEN I DOWNLOADED LIMEWIRE BETA and ALL THE PROBLEMS DISAPPEARED! The download speed was faster than ever and all the softwares functions worked. I run a Mac G4 and G3 with OS10X, so I only hope that downloading the new BETA will solve others users' problems too. Good luck! |
Interrupting downloads I think the isp is being paid to interrupt us 24 hrs a day with a program that continually breaks the downloads. The LimeWire window vibrates and shakes constantly. You can see this happening when the cursor flashes because Antivirus is kicking in when it is not a continuous packet. You can also click the Connection box and watch the Ultrapeer list showing connections broken at 100%, scrolling down through the list of connections. |
SAME HERE Lime is basicaly **** anyone who thinks it isn't... REPLY NOW! |
Yet another victim of "requery" and "0KB/s" Yep, me too! Makes you wonder if the programmers read this forum. I get that "Requery sent, waiting XXXXs for results" stuff on almost all search hits. Doing a repeat search sometimes, but only RARELY, seems to jolt some of them into action. And if there's a file on my download list waiting for results, then I can't dl it from any other hosts because Limwire says "You're already downloading that". And then if I do manage to get a dl to catch, half the time it gets stuck on the dreaded "0KB/s" dl speed and nothing downloads, but it holds up the queue for anything else I'm trying to dl. Like y'all, this problem started w/ the latest upgrade. We Mac types don't have a lot of options when it comes to dl-ing music, so I hope Limewire gets its act together better. While grateful for the free software, there's no way I'm gonna pay for the "Pro" version when it is so extremely buggy. |
When I first downloaded limewire (version 2.3.4) a week ago it worked okay, I could download files and the speeds were usually good (sometimes). However, now I find that I can rarely download anything, yet my uploads are constantly packed with sending files. Since I am sharing over 900 files (most not downloaded via Limewire), I really resent this. I have used audiogalaxy for a long time now for music and it has always worked perfectly. Not once have I had a problem with it. My question is, why would I want to share my 900 plus files, and perhaps those I haven't opted to share (another 4,000 in other directories) when I am getting nothing in return? The answer is, I won't. It appears to me that if Limewire doesn't correct this, then it will only worsen because people like me who have massive hard drive space to save all these files and a cable modem will not participate in sending when we get nothing in return. I am about to dump Limewire altogether because of this and the lack of search capability--my searches always take forever and return very few results. I am happy to share the thousands of files I have if this is fixed. I often leave my computer connected all night and most of the day, but recently I am signing off a lot and shutting Limewire down because all I'm doing is giving everyone else hundreds of files while I get none (seriously, no files in 12 hours--not even a percentage of one when I have over 50 listed to download--that's simply not acceptable). If not, does anyone know another service I can use that actually works? |
THIS SUCKS!!! I am a NEW BUYER of Limewire PRO...what a WASTE OF MONEY!!! NOT A SINGLE DOWNLOAD. I have even E-Mailed the moderators (as instructed in the FAQ's) with no response whatsoever. Anyone have ANY IDEA on a service that actually WORKS??? I am only happy at the fact that I spent 8.50 and not 28.50. |
There are a number of reasons why your download may be slow (or non-existent)... 1. The first files you get will be those that are on fast servers or with few other people queing to get files from the same machine. This means that the selection of files you have left to download are those on slower connections and heavily accessed machines. So your first files will come down quickly, subsequent ones will probably take longer. 2. The 2.4 Beta version of limewire will wait a much more reasonable period of time before requeries. The timer now maxes out at five minutes although it won't necessarily requery every five minutes. But it certainly won't wait two or three hours. 3. I have found that on my connection, if I leave the upload speed set at the default, it knocks out my download bandwidth (if anyone else finds this is the case then comment and I'll report it as a bug). You can decrease the upload bandwidth threshold through Tools|Uploads|Basic and the slider at the bottom. This change won't work instantly, uploads have to drop out of your queue first, but no more will be inserted into the queue until you drop below the threshold you've set. I set mine just below my theoretical limit - this seems to still allow a good upload speed while not getting in the way of my download speed 4. There is an option in LimeWire to reduce file sharing with freeloaders. A freeloader is detected by the number of files they have available for upload. If you only have none or a very few files shared you may find that other hosts are refusing your requests (file not found). I have this enabled, although my 'number of files' limit is very low. 5. You may have picked up a really poor set of peers or ultrapeers. It can happen that you connect to a really poor set of hosts and that these aren't very well connected themselves. Try looking for a different set by manually deleting connections or disconnecting entirely and reconnecting (File|Disconnect). You'll usually have to wait a few minutes while LimeWire tries to connect to new peers. 6. You can manually look for new peer sites with the file you are after by researching (or doing a new search) on the file name. The download will automatically pick up any new addresses from a search that you do. This is only worth doing when the network configuration has changed - but this does seem to change pretty rapidly at the moment. 7. There are some fairly annoying features with downloading which are due to be fixed in an upcoming version. The introduction of hashing should improve both the quality of downloads and their chance of success (theoretically files which have been renamed can still be identified as the same file based on the hash code - and errors in files will be obvious /before/ downloading). 8. Anything else is your problem. Although if you do find a way to increase download speed/completion I'd love to try it - I'm still a long, long way from 100% utilization of speed and 100% success on downloading. Mark |
Oops - rethink on 3. I think I may have got 3 wrong... Most cable and DSL connections are on a contention ratio - anything from 10:1 up to 50:1. This means that the bandwidth is shared with other users on the same line (or perhaps the same exchange). If those other users have the gall to use the connection at the same time as you then your download speeds will be slashed. But chances are they are downloading rather than uploading so your upload bandwidth will probably still be quite good. I don't think there's much you can do about this short of buying a dedicated line. Mark P.S. Could the people sharing my line please stop downloading. Thankyou. :^) |
What does this requering thing mean anyway, and why dont limewire release a patch, because a lot of people seem to be having this problem. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr |
Requerying means LimeWire started another search and waits for search results. |
Same here Just downloaded Limewire on the advice of a friend as to how great is it. Everything I try to download just continuously says "requery sent ..." and nothing happens. What a disappointment |
download stay away from the new version of LimeWire...2.4.3!!!!!!!!it limits you to 12 hosts...that means you will not be able to download ANYTHING!!!!!!!stick with 2.3.4 it works GREAT!!!!!!....anyone from LimeWire reading this......you just SCREWED the ONLY version that ever worked right!!!!!!! |
Where can I get V 2.3.4? |
Same issue: old version great, paid version inoperable Like so many others, I've not been able to download for weeks. I share freely. Find many things I'm intersted in, but have not been able to download as I had about 8 weeks ago. I'll try the beta version hoping for better results. |
That's probably a problem with the gnutella network. There are many leechers out there, so it's hard to find free download slots. - I also don't know what you are trying to download. For mp3s it still works well and for movies it seems to work well for the people who succeed connecting to me (that's about one out of 20,000 requests per day and if I was mean, I'd even have 12 connections at once so the ratio would go down to 1 out of 80,000 easily). |
Previous version 1.7 used to work much better. Although now I am downloading **EDIT**and **EDIT** with newer version , of course experienced same problem with ...waiting... Connection is rather slow but I think it's because of poor lines (here in Russia). In general Limewire old version was much stable! |
no downloads I am on a 1500kb cable connection but since signing up for the Pro version of Limewire I can get almost nothing to start downloading. At least I don't have to see the endless ads. |
Do any of you have either a firewall or router? If so see my thread on routers and firewalls. |
Solution for no download I have the same problems. Nothing downloads. But I found that if you shut down (totally) LimeWire and then open it again, the downloads you have set before will start. I hope that works for you too. |
To me, only 4 star (****) results download. All the other Quality's say "Requery sent... Waiting XXX seconds for results" Please help!!! Quote:
