Songs sound like chimpmunks.

what can I do about this problem? I have windows 2000 and I am using broadband. All songs are playing back in chimpmunk voices.

Most likely deliberately corrupted files; see mp3 Bit-Rates Versus File Sizes (click on link)

Check video-mp3 fixers which may or may not fix them. ;)

Most audio files will be 2,000 KB or larger, usually more than 3,000 KB in file size.
