Partial file sharing, don't forget about that. That means you are uploading what you are downloading.

There are programs, Micro$oft & Adobe that download updates, etc. behind the scenes. I stopped allowing M$ access to the net since I use a mac computer.

Suggests you are uploading what you are downloading. Most ISP's count bandwidth as a combination of both bandwidth used for uploading & downloading.

Another alternative of increased bandwidth use is if you are operating as an Ultrapeer, however it should not add that much bandwidth. The option can be disabled under Advanced settings -> Performance.

BTW that was rather amazing about someone else using your bandwidth. So sneaky.

Bandwidth

Hi Lord of the Rings and Members:

Yep! Someone was stealing my bandwidth. It was your comments about the security password that made me think that this is possible. I had a WEP key but I gather it is easy to crack? I was going to use WAP but I decided that since I don't need the wireless right now I could just cut it off.

Our ISP just started to limit how much bandwidth we use per month. It is set at 60GBs per month (and you can't transfer to the next month). Not a lot of bandwidth if you consider a family of four with watching TV online, streaming radio, etc. For me it's sufficient because I don't use those items online but I do upload and download OTR. I added some insurance of 30 GBs extra each month until I figured out what was happening.

I'll check my LW settings again about the ultrapeer network and also see if it still running after removing it from my router settings.

I've checked most of my software running in the background and updates. Doesn't appear to use that much per month.

I'll monitor Limewire to see how it behaves and let you know what happens.

Appreciate the help,:super:
