erm ... downloading files for mac osx requires some thought. Generally look for specific Mac items, else for those that have versions for multiple platforms, look for the ones that have mac or osx in their title.

Any file that has exe in its title is windows specific program. Setup.exe is typical windows app. Any file less than 2,000 KB or 2 MB is usually spammed viruses. Check thru topics here http://www.gnutellaforums.com/downlo...load-help.html including music as it shows some of the typical spam file sizes.

thanks "lord"

I id request "for mac", but I guess I should try "for OSX"...

I appreciate the input- and will try again.

You can also try searchng .dmg as they refer to only osx programs. However not all osx programs are packaged that way as you probably know. :) Another term to search for is perhaps Toast. As sometimes items are labelled as toast disk images or extension.

thanks again

I'll try it, I'm beginning to realize that the vast majority of the files are spam... am I right? It seems like even the stuff labeled "osx" or "for mac" unzip as .exe files... it's also odd when searching for fonts that mp3 files and mpg files come up... so, if I'm catching on right, very few of the shared files are authentic... am I right? Or am I doing something wrong?

yes, ignore files less than perhaps 6,000 KB. You will learn to recognise the spam after a while. See about sizes here MAJOR TOPICS for Upload/Download HELP. Files less than 2,000 KB are almost always spam. But there are a couple new types of spam around 3.5 MB & 5 MB which pose as mp3's.
