Try this. This will basically make uTorrent the Default Torrent Client. Hope it works for you. I'm sure there are other ways to do this but this works for me. 
If using XP... Start > Control Panel > Tools > Folder Options > File Types.
Now Arrow Down until you see Torrent File. Left click on said File Type to Highlite. Click Change. Now Left Click on uTorrent.
