Blank screen when playing downloaded movie videos - the audio plays ok but the screen is blank

Welcome to the forums.

I guess you're using WMP. If so, you need to download the new CODECs. Lord of the Rings has info about that here:

Once new CODECs are installed, your player should work fine.

Howdy, and Thanks for all the info input! I have downloaded both the VLC and MPlayer media players. However, I would like to ask you which CODECs list download iif any I should should download to accompany these two new players?

VLC should have all necessary CODECs installed. I would guess the same for MPlayer. You'll know for certain when you attempt to play a file.

Some media players will search the internet for CODECs and install them as necessary.

You can download G-Spot, a free program that analyzes video files and gives you more info than you probably want. It's available at download.com and elsewhere.
