Default songs appear to be downloaded but wont play

i have used LW for a few years and have a lot of songs saved i just got an ipod and synced it to my pc and (coincidentally?) after i did that and ever since when i download songs , they wont play on LW or itunes or WM and when i try and delete them they wont delete B/c they are either in use or being downloaded to and wm wont play b/c the Norton antiivirus is blocking the application download and saying its a "backdoor Trojan" virus BUT i can play the "old" songs (pre-Ipod) on LW or WM AND when i point the song that "was" downloaded ,the window says the length is 1:12 on every one i have tried (about 10) i have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes 2x and done the same with LW 3x

There are lots of fake files around now, which won't play. Check the file sizes of songs, before you download them.
Virus thread: Typical virus spam file sizes - Make a note of them (click on blue link to see)

Also, look up files with Bitzi before download: How to use Bitzi
If other users have rated the file, you'll see whether it's good or not.

Check out the threads below for more info

You can use the junk filter (tools > options > filters > junk) to mark bad files as junk, over time LW will 'learn' which files are junk. It's not a perfect filter & sometimes you may get good files being marked as junk. for that reason, it's a good idea to have the filter set to display junk at the bottom search results... that way you can mark good files as not junk if necessary.

You can also use this hostiles list - it might cut down on the amount of spam that you see.

I check my music files with the free version of AVG and it easily points to any virus files that might slip in.

But I have a somewhat similar issue. There are songs that work in both Limewire and itunes that are skipped over on the ipod. Any ideas here?
