limewire problems still ((I cannot play the music I downloaded))

I know in the past many of you have tried to help me,but I still have problems with Limewire.
When I first had L/W, all I had to do was download a song,it was there, but now everything seems to download ok, but, music will not play.
I deleted L/W and started again, but it's the same every time,go to launch it,but it will not play.
Also I noted when a new L/W is started, brand new, I still seem to have 'bit's of the previous L/W on there, like 1 or 2 songs wating to be download.
Does any of this make any sense ? :(

Excuse me for asking but what's your question got to do with 'General P2P Network Discussion For general discussion about peer-to-peer networks.' I suspect you accidentally posted in the wrong section but with a post tally of 15, one would think you would know which section to post in by now.

Did you read the forum rules btw? If you search your answer you will probably find it quickly, I've seen this same question asked many times on this forum. And I was only having a quick look through. lol :D :p

Further to my previous e-mail ( I think I put this under general )I cannot play the music I downloaded.
Also, in case this helps,I have downloaded a new L/W again, but as I said before, how come it still has some of the old L/W on it, for example--Saved in green, songs from before, in my previous L/W, plus incomplete files, still show old songs ?
Can I download L/W again from somewhere, in the hope it works like it used too?

Please use the forum search, rather than posting the same thing twice:rolleyes:

Your saved files, shared files, incomplete files are saved to your HDD. That's the way LW works. Because most people don't want to lose those filles when they update/upgrade. If you want to delete them, use your computer's search to look for the file names & delete them from your HDD. But make sure that you really want to delete them - they'll be gone & it's a PITA to recover files.

There are lots of fake files around now, which won't play. Check the file sizes of songs, before you download them.
Virus thread: Typical virus spam file sizes - Make a note of them (click on blue link to see)

Also, look up files with Bitzi before download: How to use Bitzi
If other users have rated the file, you'll see whether it's good or not.

Check out the threads below for more info.

How to find music

* WARNING: Viruses on network you should be aware of ! *

You can use the junk filter (tools > options > filters > junk) to mark bad files as junk, over time LW will 'learn' which files are junk. It's not a perfect filter & sometimes you may get good files being marked as junk. for that reason, it's a good idea to have the filter set to display junk at the bottom search results... that way you can mark good files as not junk if necessary.

You can also use this hostiles list - it might cut down on the amount of spam that you see.

Thank you Birdy,
Will give it all a go.I think I understand a bit more now,but I must say I am not alone, everytime I ask someone about Limewire, young or old, they just can't help, it's only on this forum you can get advice.

Thank you again.
