5. Connection type? Broadband
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Agere Systems PCI Soft Modem - Model #? umm.. dunno

8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? LW 4.18.8
9. Who is your ISP? AT&T
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? No.. none other than LW
14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? I'm using a router, but I don't know what you mean by set up. Ummmm.. the normal way?
15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? AVG 8.5.. The free one.
16. What country are you living in? US of A

I thought you might want that info again, so I posted it.

Ok.. I got one of them there 5,611 kb files when I was d/l some music. About 3 songs later, I noticed that LW was telling me that I'd downloaded that file already even though I'd just looked it up. I assumed virus, so I stopped what I was doing and ran my Virus Scanner on the folder. It didn't find anything.
I looked in the folder, but none of the sizes are 5,611.
So.. here I sit.. Fairly certain one of the new files I downloaded is a virus or just crap, but don't know which one.
There a way I can find out which one without scrapping the last 7 downloads?

Keep in mind that size of spam will always show the green tick (it tricks LW). So there's a major chance you have not previously downloaded that file. Virus thread: Typical virus spam file sizes - Make a note of them (click on blue link to see)

Right.. I read all that.. and that green tick is what clued me in as to my spam. However, I didn't notice until about 3 songs later.
How do I find the corrupt file? Ya know.. without attempting to play it and possibly exposing my computer.

Soooooooo.. which one would be the corrupt file? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Ok.. I REALLY hate to be a bother.. but there's a question upon the table. I was hoping one of y'all would answer it for me....

According to LW, I previously downloaded a song. I'm aware that it's a spam / virus file and that I DIDN'T in fact previously download that particular name... However it shows that I downloaded SOMETHING.
Now... I've looked and none of the files are the 5,611 kb size. My Virus Scanner doesn't show any viruses.

How am I to find the invalid file without exposing my computer to a virus??

It's been 5 days y'all. A little help please?

Lord of the Rings January 26th, 2009 09:13 AM

How large is the file? :)

Also 38.6 KB files show the green tick.

Grishnak01 January 27th, 2009 08:48 AM

The file that was ticked showed the 5,611 kb. Will ALL files that are 5,611 kb show as ticked?

The sizes of the file(s) in question are -
1,994 4,939 5,137 5,282 5,547 6,759 7,657 8,289 and 8,443

Depends whether it's spam or not. I've come across an audio file what was that size but not that infamous spam.

The other sizes look ok. :)
