New to all of this.....I noticed that I don't see anyone uploading any files, though the "options" shows that I have things in check.

Go to your Library window, click on each of your shared folders, look to the columns to the right side. If they have numbers under Upload columns then that means attempts have been made. If Hits columns show numbers, then that means people have found your files in their searches.

If you see a brick wall icon at bottom left of LW's interface, then that might be one reason.

Is there a number that I could call to talk to a tech person? I just seem to be having problems doing anything on here. All that seems to work is downloading music. I was trying to use the chat and I couldn't make that work either. So I can't establish myself as part of the community in case I have questions.

And thank you for your quick response from my first post. I was actually amazed.

Unless you are a LW Pro user, you do not have access to tech support & tech support is generally only via email.

Enabling chat will help with sharing believe it or not. That's something that is an odd behaviour. Chat helps people to browse your files. I guess it may use UDP instead of TCP protocol, but I'm not sure.

Ask your questions & hopefully someone can help you with sufficient answers for you.

I presume you are using LW 4.18 & not the new LW 5 alpha/beta version which still does not have all tools properly incorporated.

Just so I understand this correctly....I put a check in the box for chat that reads "enable" . But I don't see any place where I can chat at. There are no smiley faces on the files I click on. I am using the latest 4.18 ...which I just downloaded a couple of days ago.

How in the world do you keep up with answering everyones questions!!! Maybe that's why your the "Lord of the Rings". You will have to excuse us 55 year olds for being a bit slower at figuring this stuff out.

I am downloading some music from a specific host at the moment ....and I right clicked on one of the song files...what I noticed was the option to chat with host was not highlighted for me to choose that option.

To chat with others, they also need to have their chat enabled. Unfortunately too many people are not educated into enabling this.

You can check if others have their chat enabled by right-clicking the heading bar of any window be it the search results or download window or upload window, & choose show Chat from the drop down menu. The heading bar is the one at the top of any window that shows file name, file size etc. That particular horizontal column has extra show vertical columns if you right-click upon it.

lol yes basically. I've helped out on the forums for several years. It is a hobby. I previously helped out on a video & dvd forum for apple. There's been other forums as well, p2p ones, but I limit myself to this one now.

I wish you had a "Pay Pal" account so I could pay to talk with you for a few. All this tech stuff just wears me out. I can fly planes, I build houses, I have a cabinet shop and I drive a Harley...but nothing kicks my *** like the computer! I have had LW for a couple years. But I sort of shied from using it much. So the other day I downloaded the newest version...and told myself I was going to figure this thing out. Now my most of my Saturday has gave me a pain in the neck from looking at this screen to long.
