Ok ive use this program for a long time and i have a firewall problem . Ive turned off my windows firewall and the firewall in my router . But limewire is still saying that i got a firewall up . I can download just fine . Im trying to make it so that i can DL movies to my wifes and kids computers from my computer . Is there a fix to this ?

Try disabling Ultrapeer abilities. Go to LW's menu bar, Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Performance & you will see the options. In fact you could disable all options on that page. :)

Are you always seeing a brick wall or only sometimes after LW has been on for a while. It's my guess your router's UPnP is losing communication with LW due to LW being busy for a long time or simply java having memory issues which is common.

After my LW has been on for perhaps 24 hours & it's been very busy over that period, it sometimes starts to show the brick wall. Even though there are people uploading from me. lol :D I will then usually do a restart, making sure I don't interfere with people's downloading from me, checking my library for uploads to check if they are almost finished or early on in downloading a file(s) from me, etc.

If it's on all the time then that's bad news. See suggestions here If LW Will Not Connect (click on the blue link) & also if those don't fix, then see link at end about supplying details, we cannot help without them.

ok lord of the rings . i did what you said . and it dont look they have the belkin router in the list .:ranting2: but thank you for the help .

Lord of the Rings January 29th, 2009 03:21 PM

I can tell you from experience on these forums & personal experience that Belkin routers are not 100% reliable in UPnP mode. Although mine connects fine, after running for a day or so, I get firewall issue showing.
For others, the best answer has generally been to port forward the device. This is always more reliable than UPnP in any case because it's a predefined router setting after you have made the setting so is not affected by LW being busy.

If you would like direct instructions on how to do this, find the exact model number of the belkin & post back here. :) Are you using windows 2000, XP or Vista? This also makes a difference for the next step.

[ Enable - Description - Inbound port - Type - Private IP address - Private port ]

so if you have any idea . on this it would help out . and man thank you for all the help .

May need to port forward separately for the laptop. You need (1) a different static ip address & (2) to port forward a different port to the laptop. Example, port 64049.

Examples of internal ip's. Router ip address: 198.168.0.1, first computer address 198.168.0.2, 3rd computer address 198.168.0.3

You would not be able to use either the same ip address or port number for the laptop. Port forwarding is specific to computer & its ip address. Ports are limited to specific computer on the network (routers will in a way reserve them for a single computer which is why you need to choose a different port number.)

[ Enable - Description - Inbound port - Type - Private IP address - Private port ]

now im just trying to open it up for people to DL off me . and im stomped on this 1 . lol

Lord of the Rings January 31st, 2009 04:48 AM

Which brand & model router is it?

inbound port is the one you will set for your laptop, needs to be different from your other computer. The ip address is the static ip you set up for your laptop which is the very first thing you should do. Enable, type: make it both UDP & TCP. Description, erm ... I guess call it limewire.
