Unable to transfer songs from limewire 5 to itunes.
 

I just dowloaded limewire 5 and i am unable to transfer songs from limewire library to itunes. I have a folder which used to save my downloaded songs from limewire but it seems that with limewire 5 the songs are not being saved in that folder.Please help i have being trying for the past 2 hours and head is beginning to hurt. I am using windows vista.

AFAIK for windows users, the songs are now automatically transferred to iTunes IF you have that option enabled. Open iTunes, look under playlist called Recently Added, & see if your songs are listed. ;)

To enable automatic transfer to iTunes - in LW go tools > options > downloads. Tick the box to add audio files from LW to iTunes > ok.

If you want to, you can change where your downloads are saved - in LW go tools > options > downloads. Now you can browse for the folder that your downloads used to go to & select that folder. Click ok to save the change:)

Edit - Looks like you might also have to change where specific categories are downloaded (sorry - we're still learning about LW 5 as well). In LW go tools > options > advanced > files. Click on the Download Folders 'configure' button... now browse for the folder that you want your downloads to go to > select > ok. Then also click ok on the larger options page.

Help! Limewire to MP3
 

:( I have just downloaded the new limewire, picked 100 songs and saved them in my folder to download on to my mp3 player, but it is coming up with the message 'the disk is write protected'. 'Remove the write-protection'. I get this message when i'm using Windows Media Player 'Windows Media Player cannot find the file. If you are trying to play, burn, or sync an item that is in your library, the item might point to a file that has been moved, renamed, or deleted.' What is going wrong? Please help anyone. Thank you.

What instructions? :confused: LW 5 has changed since it was originally released, the 5.2 beta is quite different to 5.1 & 5.0

I downloaded limewire 5.1.4 and there is no option any place in there for itunes.

Tools -> Options -> Downloads. That's for auto-transfer. But you'd need to restart both LW & iTunes before it took effect. There's also the LW share list option which is found at Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Files

Just bought LW pro and now find it has no link to itunes like older versions have. Also on my Mac I cannot drag files over. Can that be possible??? Hard to believe. Thanks for any suggestions.

The answer to my own problem is simple. Look at Limewire preferences, then options and check the box, add limewire files to itunes. I make a playlist in itunes called limewire and the downloaded files from LW appear there.

Isn't life beautiful? Now if the cold rain would just go away.

Since you are using a mac, if you still have pro priviledges for updates, why not try out the LW 5.2 beta. It's stable, loads very fast, has quite a few improvements including search filters (& size filter). iTunes options are now both in same spot in on main preferences page. Just a thought. You would find the Beta Pro link on right side of your Pro download page.

Previous attempts generally successful. Some downloads registered in iTunes library but don´t play.
Wanting very much to use Pr*nce "L*t´s m*ke a b*by¨ as sound track for i Movie production as a gift to friends who have just had one. All iTunes marked downloads from LW of this song don´t play.
Perhaps ALL the copies of this song are dysfunctional?

That is a possibility. Try playing them with VLC, that will be your God as to whether the songs are good or bad. ;) VLC can play many more audio formats than iTunes can. (Also if you check Alternate Audio Players & support plug-ins you will see there are other alternatives which also can play a very wide range of audio files for OSX; eg: Vox)

If a song is popular, then there will most likely be more deliberately spread spam (corrupted versions) of the file.

BTW are you sure you are searching the correct artist. I did a search & found another artist (Billy ...) with that song. None by the artist you referred to.

God proclaims all of them to be false prophets bearing false witness, like the one that parodies Bill Clinton "not having sex with that woman" and another that takes you to iTunes store for baby gear.
Pr*nce lets have b*by is strongly represented among the duds and your suggestion of "...billy" makes no sound. Or is Billy the name of the artist? I really would like a song that does feature the proposal to make a baby.
VOX is a neat little box but I haven't worked the way to delete its playlist, not a click and drop process like VLC. Thanks for your prompt attention mi Lord

Billy is the first name of the artist .. 2nd name beginning with Pa from memory & ends with ul. (I did not wish to name it here in breach of the forum rules on copyright & discussing downloading copyright material.) ;) That's what I meant, are you sure the song belongs to the artist you suggested. It may in fact belong to someone else such as who I found in my search results. The album called 'The soul of sed*cti*n' ... I think you can figure that one out. But I'm not totally sure if that's the one you are after .. certainly same title of song.

Here's some things to check out for tips: Virus thread: Typical virus spam file sizes - Make a note of them (click on blue link to see) & also How to find music

If a song in search results does not show a bitrate you can be assured it is a fake. Likewise some of the naming of titles are easily identifiable as spam ... and other type of fakes are deliberately corrupted .. do show bitrate but the bitrate does not correspond what to the file size should be.

Vox is cool. Only a simplistic program interface but has a very wide range of audio format playing abilities. It does have an export function also which includes Apple Lossless. A limit of export formats however.

No luck with Billy and his or her *oul *f *ion. Chose to move filter slider from semi relaxed to strict following a reading of How to find music and Virus thread. Wise?
Search for *f I we*e a c*rpent*er obtained 100% instant downloads all wit bitrates but registering "disk error". Mine or some other bug in cyberspace?

Post script.
ALL the Billy etc downloads registered 0.04 in LW Saved File

I have my junk filter set to loose .. almost to the far left, and show junk results at bottom of search results. This is so I can double-check nothing is considered as junk when it is not. And still I get files registering as junk even when they are not.

The song I downloaded is a 'soul' song. Not sure if that's the same song as you were after. I could potentially upload it privately for you to double-check.

Loose is more my style. Just seeming to have more pertinent results at the other extreme...about which is it is EXTREMELY kind of you to make the offer and I accept it with glee.

I absolutely cannot get Limewire 5.2.8 to auto place songs into my iTunes. I did everything I've always done, and I check my recently added to find that my songs are nowhere to be found.

Did you try manually adding the songs to iTunes via drag & drop from the LW download folder? That will at least tell you if the files are ok or not.

The setting for enabling iTunes is in Tools -> Options ->My Files ... Configure button for auto-adding songs to iTunes.

iTunes cannot import wma, real, mp3pro or ogg files. iTunes can import mp3, m4a/mp4, aiff, wav & apple lossless.

I did, and manually it works, but not auto. It only stopped working once I upgraded my Limewires D:

Sometimes it can be a bit tricky, stopping importing during long sessions for example. Go to the setting, disable press ok. Then go back, enable, press ok.
Oh .. you may need to restart iTunes also.

That's an issue Mac OSX users have had to deal with for many years. It's only been this year Windows users have had the auto-import feature. :)
