Gnutella downloads are much too slow Here's an anomaly I've started to experience lately. Downloading files from the Gnutella network are much too slow compared to when I am browsing the Internet normally. For example, I can download an ISO file from the World Wide Web at approximately 187 Kbps... but when I switch to LimeWire and Gnutella mode and try to download a file, I'm only registering speeds of about 3 to 4 Kbps! What's the deal here? Can anyone help me out? Or is this part of the Fed's move to discourage illegal music sharing? No matter what the issue is, I'd appreciate any help you can give me on this matter. Thanks! Brandon Taylor |
Gnutella is p2p = sharing from person to person. The files do not come from a web site. lol :D So you can only download as fast as the other person allows or as with as much speed as they have available after sharing to others. Do you share? Sharing helps search results. And finding as many download hosts is the key via re-searching your topic & using the Get More Results option. :) Browsing host can also help find more sources on occasions. :) I upload at between 90-100 KB/s ... that's my 'upload' speed, not my download speed. And I enjoy sharing my files. ;) I find I can connect to people who are seeking similar topic files more easily ... via browsing them, and also my search results tend to improve, etc. |
