Default Problem searching

I've had a problem since the new version of limewire came out. When searching, doesn't matter if it's audio, video, etc, I just don't get many, if any search results. The only results I get usually are the same old junk files. Like for video I always get files like Awesome comedy clip.mov, Funny Celebrity stunts.mpg, and Hilarious entertainment vid.mov. I know not everything will return results, but even searches that should return lots of results only return these same junk files. No settings on my end have been changed, so it's not like a router or firewall problem. Limewire, once again, is the ONLY program I'm having any trouble with. I know about routers, port forwarding/upnp, firewalls, etc, and mine is set up correctly. I was downloading some files when I found out a new version was available, and as soon as I installed it, I stopped getting results when searching. Every so often, like if I try nightly for a week solid, several times a day, I'll get a search to return results, but it's just not worth the time. Any ideas or suggestions?

See whether anything here helps: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/gettin...h-results.html

mov files are notorious for porn/spam - it's probably a good idea to filter those out. If there are keywords that you always see with junk files (eg hilarious, awesome), you could filter those out. Check this thread for more info - there's a list of keywords & file types to add to the filter: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/limewi...ind-music.html

Hey thanks a lot. Deleting the preferences folder worked. Now I just have to start filtering out the immense number of spam files that have popped up only since the new version came out.

ActuallyI guess I spoke too soon. It worked fine last night, but today when I tried to use Limewire, even though I've made no changes...its back to showing no results. I tried what I did last night but this time it wont work. Any other ideas? I disabled TLS and Ultrapeer capabilities as well, but nothing. This is beyond annoying.

Here's a couple of things that might help: (a) http://www.gnutellaforums.com/limewi...unk-files.html, __ (b) Problems with the search, __ (c) Hostiles List.

There does seem to be a double-edged problem with searches. One of them LW devs only discovered recently. Another is ultrapeers you are connected to might not be behaving properly & your search messages are hitting a brick wall somewhere along the way. Try not re-searching the same search terms too many times. Sometimes that can stop a UP responding to it. Closing LW & re-opening might help you connect to different UP's.

And kjmarket, if you're not happy with the latest LW you can always go back to using LW 4

There's a page to download old installers: Lime Wire » Download Out-Of-Date Installers

If you're using Pro, your personal download page has a link to 4.18.8 on the left hand side - 'Get LimeWire Classic'.

Thanks but I've already looked at The first link before and the hostiles list thing, neither of which helped. I've been looking at the second one,a dn I added the I.P.s as it said but it seems to have done nothing. I went into my advanced tool tab and removed the current ultrapeers it was connected to and let it search for more. No matter which 3 ultrapeers I connect to, it doesnt change my problem. Not interested in peerguardian. Not sure what this means but in advanced tools, it says I am a leaf node. You are behind a firewalla nd do not accept firewall transfers. When I click why it says port unstable? What does this mean exactly? I have my router/firewall set up properly, and use upnp with limewire...and I disable my firewall when using LW.

True..I could install an older version, but I really dont want to. I shouldnt have to do that just to go back to version 4 and less than satisfactory performance. I'd rather try to get the new version working, hopefully better than version 4 did/.
