Downloading from 18 hosts at 0 KB/s

Gday

I am trying to download some files and I expericnecing some problems.

When I load LW things preceed as normal but then the speed reverts back to 0 KB/s. This is strange as one of the downloads is 78% complete.

It is a big file.

I have tried to reload LW pro a few times, shut down and rebooted etc.

Any advice would be great

tom

Sounds very much like ISP p2p bandwidth shaping. The fact it takes a few seconds before the speed drops is a typical sign. Bad ISPs - AzureusWiki though there might be more recent ones out there than is listed. I think one of the Sydney radio ISP's also shapes p2p bandwidth.

Does this only happen at certain times of day, such as peak periods of day? Have you tried very late at night (after midnight or 2 am or during the morning? This is worth checking.)

Are the files in question torrent files or regular gnutella network shared files?

Thanks

I havent really checked the time.

This is a recent problem which makes me think (the fact that my ISP is not on the wiki list supports this) that it is not the doing of my ISP but they could have recently introduced this.

All the files have come from Mininova. i am guessing they are torrents. I have had this problem before but I solved by uninstalling/reinstalling LW Pro. This has not worked this time unfrotunately.

Thanks

Ah .. ok. LW is not a particularly good program to use as a torrent sharing program. It's torrent abilities are limited. Either uTorrent or Vuse are far superior & you know where you are with them. You can use them in basic, medium or advanced mode depending on your knowledge of torrents. Gives you so much more control & information about your torrents than LW does. LW does not even tell you or keep track of share ratio. It has a built in setting to share at a particular ratio, however this can not always be achieved. Share ratio itself might be a factor with the problems you are having. Some torrent program users filter out those who have a poor share ratio. Also, some torrent sites do not recognise LW as an official torrent program, thus would not be able to download via those sites' torrents.

Patience is best with torrents. :)
