Do you have LW set to add downloads automatically to iTunes? Tools > Options > My Files > click on the Configure tab next to iTunes. Tick the box to add audio files from LW to iTunes > ok. Then also click ok on the main options screen.

If you've already got that option ticked but it's not working, untick the option > ok > ok on main options page. Restart LW, go back into options again & re-enable the transfer to iTunes. If things are playing up, disabling the option & re-enabling it seems to fix things :)

If you don't want to have all of your downloads automatically add to iTunes, there are a few different ways to add files. Check out this thread (click on link) for heaps of info: How to transfer music to my iPod (& iTunes)

help again

It worked but now I can't sync my ipod .

Nothing's been changed within iTunes settings, so AFAIK sync should work just as before.

Try ejecting your iPod, shutting down iTunes & then restarting. Or even reboot your computer :)

Do you have automatic sync enabled or do you manually manage files & folders? I manually manage my files & folders (manual sync) just because with automatic sync there's always the chance of losing files from the iPod if changes are made to the iTunes library & then iPod is synced before you realise that you might've deleted some files from iTunes that you still want on your iPod.

I have the same problem transfering limewire downloads to itunes. I tried the suggestion above, but it didn't work. It was working perfectly until a couple of days ago. What else could it be or should I try

Something else you need to do for iTunes if you wish them automatically 'Copied' to the iTunes Music Library folder. In iTunes menu bar, Edit menu -> Preferences -> Advanced, check the option for 'Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library'.

And beware of spammed files pretending to be normal audio files: Typical file SIZEs of Spammed Virus files posing as audio files (click on link)

thanks. I just tried that, but my recent limewire downloads have not showed up in itunes. do you think it has anything to do with having limewire basic?

What do you mean recent downloads? Are you referring to the LW playlist which shows in iTunes? Click on the Recently Added playlist under iTunes Playlist heading on left side of iTunes window. See if any recently downloaded music is listed there. :)

Have you tried playing those recently downloaded music files with another program to be sure they actually play? A good player for that purpose is VLC player, even though it's predominantly a video player, it can play all types of audio files you will find on Gnutella network. If VLC cannot play the file there's a high chance the audio file is a fake / dud ! :(
