I am unalbe to "Browse Files" at all. When I click browse files, I get the error message: "There was a problem browsing some_name. Retry?" This has not worked for a couple days now. I saw some references to enabling "chat" but I can't find that option anywhere in the settings.
Secondly, how is that some_name generated. I don't see any logon/login area for LW that would generate that name--so where is it coming from when I "Browse Files?" Thanks for any help. |

Not all users are Browsable. Browse host has never been 100% reliable & far from it. There are numerous reasons why the other host might not be able to be browsed.
Unlike LW 4, LW 5 does not have enabling of Chat option for general use. Chat only applies to those users on the private share list. The random name generation is based on a system LW developed for LW 5 so ip addresses are not shown. It may be partly based on ip address I suspect. I'd suggest you keep trying. Some days might be better than others for browsing hosts. Some days it might seem like only 10% are browsable or less, or somedays more (eg: 40-65%).

Thank you both for your replies.
I did find the name information in the FAQ; sorry, should have looked harder. The "Browse Host/Files" worked intermittantly in the previous version, but I could always find someone I could browse to. In the new version, I haven't been able to browse anyone for anything for a couple days now; but will keep trying on your suggestion. |

I am facing this same issue but only the users that are uploading from me. I can sucessfully browse users when I am downloading from them. I have a 100% failure rate to browse users who are uploading from me. Any ideas?

When I click "RETRY" then it automatically gives 0 results. This happens for everyone I try to browse that is uploading from me.
