Adding zip files to library
 

Very new user here.
First, the only purpose for my having Limewire is to share files with one other person only, a family member. These files are many, sometimes large and I prefer to upload them in zip file. They are usually to large to send thru email including g-mail.
Myself and the other person both installed the free version 5.4.6, mine on XP home edition and the other on Vista.
We had no problems with test upload/downloads such as single .jpg .bmp etc.
When I try to add a zip file to the sharing list or to the library, it tells me it cannot be added to the library. Size does not matter, it won't let me add it. Yet I know I read in one of the faq's that zip is one of the files that are recognized.
What am I doing wrong or is this a case of "those are one of the files that can only be uploaded with the Pro version"?

Doesn't matter whether you're using Pro or basic LW ;)

You should be able to add .zip files to your Public Shared list, so that your family can download them.

In LW go Tools > Options > My Files. Click on the Configure box, beside 'Configure unsafe sharing settings'. Now tick the box beside 'Allow me to search for & share programs with anyone' (if you click on the 'what are programs link', you'll see which file extensions you can share). Click ok. Click ok again on the main options page.
