Torrent file segments not available

Using Limewire 5.5.8 with much success. However, last two movie downloads have stalled. First one at 99% with only 2MB to go. Checking file info, one segment is shown in red as unavailable. I am connected to usually 2 but sometimes 3 P2P users. The other shows connected to 2 P2P users but will never start. When checking file info, ALL segments are shown in red. I do not know what to do...if anything.

Sounds like a torrent file right? Patience is a virtue. :) Unlike Gnutella network where more sources (people with same file) can be searched for, with torrent files you need to wait for someone to have those segments & have available upload slots & bandwidth for you. :) If someone shows as having it but you are not getting them then patience is best until a fellow downloader downloads those segments or the one who has them opens up an upload slot for you. :)

Do you mean peers you are connected to via the under Tools menu -> Advanced, or do you mean sources showing as connected to in Download window? The advanced window shows how many peers you are connected to the Gnutella network, if less than 3 then suggests you are struggling with connection for some reason.

It is a torrent, correct! Under Tools>Advanced shows 3 ultrapeers. The Download window shows XXXMB of YYYMB (0 KB/s) from 3 P2P Users. My questions was around the fact that when I "View File Info" and click on "Pieces" the remaining piece is marked in red (unavailable). Does this mean that none of the three users has this piece?

It does tend to suggest this yes. I must confess I don't personally use LW for torrents but is same principle to other torrent programs. :)

Need to be careful about downloading old torrents. Often not many with the entire file are still seeding. Likewise I have one torrent stuck at 32% for 4 months.
Another torrent which gradually creeped up to 82% over same period with the other 60+ people waiting for the person with the 100% of file to come back online (seems to come online once a week for an hour or two .. sighs.) So all others are stuck at 82% except for the new ones that show up. :(

So either patience .. else delete it & find a newer torrent of same thing (or similar.)

(I retitled the thread to show this topic is about torrents.) :)

Thanks so much for the info. I am pretty new to torrents. What torrent software do you use? So, what you are suggesting is that none of the three peers has this single segment??? The download was progressing just fine and then came to a sudden, abrupt halt at this point with only 2.0 out of 845 MB remaining.

Yes sounds like none of remaining ones have the remaining segment & like you are awaiting for someone with the last part to come online.

I use two torrent programs. Main one is Vuse (previously called Azureus) & this year use Transmission (Mac OSX only) for one specific private torrent site. For windows either Vuse or the much simpler uTorrent are good ones. :) Vuse has more advanced features, plus can be used in either Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced levels as set in preferences for more options.

Thank you.
