MP3 Player and Lime wire

I have over a 1000 songs from Limewire which I syncd to my ipod. My problem is the pc which I did this on crashed along with my library. I tryed to transfer these songs from my ipod to my new pc's library and it will not accept. I tried to burn these songs on a cd and it will not work. Is this because these songs came from Limewire and not I tunes??

Sounds like the actual songs were not in iTunes music library. So, drag & drop them from LW's download folder into iTunes. How to transfer music to my iPod (& iTunes) {click on link}

When I originally downloaded they appeared in my itunes library and limewire library. I then synced them to my ipod. The problem when my pc crashed I lost both libraries. I now only have the songs on my ipod. So I would like to put back on my library in case something happens to my ipod.

There are a few free programs (much better than iTunes) that will transfer, even sync, files between your iPod and PC.

The info provided by LotR will help you to ensure the songs are transferred, rather than just the playlist.

So these programs would allow me to take the songs from my ipod and put them on my library on my pc? If so could you tell the programs you are suggesting.

You can find much free software via Google search.
Here's one that I have used: Transfer iPod to computer Copy iPod to iTunes Backup iPod to PC

If you continue using iTunes, I recommend you update to most recent version. There was a bug with the original iTunes 10.0.0 release where LW's shared library lists would not appear on iTunes. ;)

I just loaded iTunes back on my computer about a week ago, so I assume it is the most recent version. I did download the software per Blackhorse and it worked. A Note: the free downlaod only allowed me to transfer 100 songs to my Itunes Library. If you want more songs than that you have to buy the full version for $20. I did and it loaded all my songs on mu itunes library. They appear a little differently in my library but I think I can work with that. One last question. I would like to back up my library. Replay is not a concern. I just want something that I can store my songs on so if anything would happen to my computer or ipod. I still have the songs saved and can download on future pc's or ipods.

I forgot about the 100-song limit for the free version. There are other free programs (without limitations) that will transfer files between iPod and PC, just do a Google search.

If you store the songs as data (not as audio CD), you can fit a lot of music on a CD (700mb), or by storing songs on DVD (8.5 GB) you could probably fit your entire music collection on a few disks. That's how I back up my music.

I use an external hard disk drive for my entire iTunes library backup. Over 200 GB so I needed larger storage. But on my mac, I have a partition specifically designated to iTunes.

I have a dedicated external for music as well. I use a friend as the backup ;)

Worst thing about using an external is how easy it is to just upgrade and copy over. Lots of stuff I'll probably never listen to again in there, if I ever listened to it at all.

Get the hard drive out of the old computer and put it in the new one. TX the files and hey presto. Even if the problem with the computer was the software on the harddrive you will still be able to rescue most of the files.

Well oh well... I tried to connect to limewire yesterday and it would not connect. Anything else I should now try?

Lord of the Rings November 23rd, 2010 09:04 AM

First try File_Girl's fix, if that does not work, try Birdy's other suggestions: If LW 5 Will Not Connect :)

File girl worked. Thanks

cobalt04 December 4th, 2010 08:34 AM

Boy oh boy.. File girl had me working, now I cannot connect. Any other fixes floating around?

File_Girl71 December 4th, 2010 09:44 AM

Probably the LW connection FiX need to be updated...I will tonight update it, so please try again if you want! Btw it's important you use LW mutch after you get connected...Because LW will still look for the old UHC Cache's and yours probably get lost due to lack of Ultrapeers to get connected too, and they are all ready gone! Try the updated LW connection FiX then we see what happens!
