realy slow downloads

yes i am a p2p virgin and have been trying to download films etc music is fine a couple of min i got the track i want but films take days an i mean DAYS can any one help me plz

900mhz amd athlon pross
20 gig hd
256 meg o ram
windows xp pro
b band 512kb/s
