That's perfectly normal. If you manage to stay online for awhile you'll be
automatically promoted and become another ultrapeer. Get in the habit of
keeping it running all the time and it will start up in that mode from then on.

Firstly, thx Aaron 4 fast reply
The problem is how long? I tried BS b4 and for the first time i got loads of hosts, unlike this time. And if the 'promotion' works, would i nid 2 wait for this to happen next times i use BS

Once it happens you tend to start up in ultrapeer mode or at least get promoted more quickly.

What router and/or modem do you have there?
I can find instructions for that NAT stuff.

Hi. I have the same problem Jillscottvn mentioned above. I get little connection once I upgraded my Bearshare (1 ultrapeer if I'm lucky). Is there some new rule about becoming an ultrapeer now? Anyway, I have windows 98, do have optimum online and have a linksys router. I also have no firewall to my knowledge. This all started when optimum disabled my internet for payment issues. So I don't know if the new bearshare is to blame or my IP.

OOL has been blocking P2P lately.
Hopefully that will blow over in a few weeks.
If not, I can show you where to find a better ISP.

Is there a way to make OOP reverse it, or are they doing it purposely? I've talked to them and they said as long as I have internet connection, they've done their job and the problem must be eleswhere.
