music audio playing back only a few seconds then stops

Gday i am new to bearshare and have only just downloaded Bearshare ver 6.1.0.32411 from an invitation sent email from a mate who has no problems with their Bearshare same version.
I see that everything seems to work fine i search for a song, download it (a green file), and it also has 5 stars next to it.
I click to play once downloaded and it plays for a few seconds then stops.
So i located the bear share folder in my Music found the song rightclicked to play in Nero (Ac3 audio)as the icon is for this program but it still only plays for a few seconds then stops.
So i right clicked again to play in Windows Media Player latest version 11.0.5721.5145 and it does the same thing stops after a few seconds.
I looked in bearshares preferences and havent altered anything there.
I have windows XP professional sp2.
Looking at the properties the music file is MP3....and i repeated with 2 other songs....with the same results.
I am unsure of what else to try
