Test with the free documentary called "Loose Change". If you can download that,
then you were probably trying to download fakes.

Also, familiarize yourself with the controls in the downloads view. I see you
haven't mentioned what you see when you expand the sources lists or what
happens when you manually restart a download or what happens when you use the
"Find more sources" and "Bitzi ticket" commands.

it certainly seems that you have some severe connection problems...for one thing, a simple trace of your IP address indicates that the closest nodes to your location (Israel) are very slow....very, very, slow....for another your problems using BearShare (a truly wonderful Gnutella client) are indicative of possibly being blocked by your provider....or maybe just a symptom of slow response times...

as far as being a leaf, you certainly don't 'have' to be an ultrapeer, and with your apparent connection problems, that would only make things worse....

have you verefied that your firewall (if you have one) is allowing BearShare to access the internet?...

i didn't change some settings in firewall,so i don't understand how can it change by itself(can it be?).
