Download Directory

I have tried to set my download directory to "D:\My Music" but I get a message that says that this is not a valid directory for download. The directory does exist on my hard drive. What is wrong?

Try using Windows Explorer to first create the directory, if the directory is already there try renaming it to just "Music" then set BearShare to use that folder for downloads.

This directory already exists and Windows would not let me rename it.

Oh, I just love windows. NOT!

Well if it is a BearShare problem, uninstalling it then reinstalling will fix anything weird that is not a bug. And I have never hear that problem before so most likely it is not a bug.

But is sounds like something windows is doing to me.

I can set it to save to other directories on the "D" drive, just not the "My Music" directory. Seems almost intentional.

Your trying to save the completed downloads to your My Music folder. Do you have the Temp downloads set to another folder?
Just in case you can't have your completed downloads and your temp downloads in the same folder.

It sounds like something is accessing that folder. Trying restarting your computer.

Or the folder might be set to Read-Only for some reason. Right click on it in Explorer and make sure Read-Only is unchecked.

I have sharing set to that folder and the "Read Only" attribute is set, and I can clear it. When I start Explorer again, is once again checked "Read Only".

I find no reference to a "Temp Download" folder. Right now, files are downloaded and saved in the same folder on my drive.
