For usb stick / usb harddisk I wish to have a portable version. This means exactly I am suggesting to add a command line switch like -portable.
All files and settings (like the files in documents and settings directory) shall be saved in the program folder, aka ./settings ./downloads ./incomplete... In this case people just need to install java or use portable java (soon) and can travel with their program from comp to comp. |

If you are willing to specify a command line switch instead of -portable, you might be already able to get this behavior. Although it is not fully tested.
Try to use the command line switch '-c ./settings' or '-c <path_to_settings_directory> I would be happy to hear from you if this works out right. |
