Hi All,
I'm new to this forum. does anyone know where to get the replacement gnutella.net file so I can solve my connection issue in frostwire 4.21.8? I did have it at one time, and it worked, but must have got whizzed out on an old flash drive and can't seem to find it anywhere else. Your expert help is much appreciated. thanks in advance, shukokai. |

Check the links here http://www.gnutellaforums.com/frostw...ere-first.html
![]() These files are updated about once every 4 or 6 months. But will potentially still be effective for well over a year. |

Lord of the Rings, as they say, "should av done what it says on the tin".
In other words, check the forum first before posting! ah well live n learn. I tried both fixes, for windows on an old laptop, and the linux one which is the one I couldn't get to work. They both worked a treat. Windows one seemed a bit quicker to get the best connection, but eventually the linux on "mint" sorted itself out. Might have been a bit slow due to my vpn connection? i don't know. (ipvanish). Being rather new to linux stuff and terminal commands, I didn't really know how to write the commands down via terminal from the file fix so tried the old fashioned method of delete the old gnutella.net file and copy and paste the new one from the fix. Thanks again for the link/advice. Shukokai

Thanks for letting us know.
I guess one good thing about vpn's is that your ip is never the same from one session to the next. Unfortunately sometimes they fall into hostile territory due to occasionally using web hosting ip ranges (which are often used for BOTs.) That might help explain the slower connecting time. But on the other hand I never promise the connection files will be super fast to connect with, just reliable.

Just followed instructions off pictures. Seemed to connect a lot quicker for some reason?? then dropped off a bit. Might have to play around and find fastest sever with the VPN for my country and try again. If not much better, I might fire off the linux mint and put a windows 7 version on the flash drive and install 4.21.8 on that with the fix, and see if that's any better.
Thanks a lot "Lord Of The Rings" for the help. Shukokai ![]()
