Yeah that was to be my next suggestion, but you beat me to the punch!

Anyhow, archive the LW installation, making sure the files are moved (not just copied) then test to see if FW loads normally. When testing is over, the LW archive can be un...tarred. (almost said "zipped")

All of you that thought that i am mistaking FW for LW were right, of course. It has LW's logo, and colors and stuff but the about says it's FW...

I knew that FW is based on LW's core - so what is the difference then? It's the same GUI as well? I see LW's logo in the GUI also.

Thanks everyone.

You can also run 2 apps of LW at the same time by doing the same thing. I have been doing it for about a year now there was only one version that you could not do it with. I learned about it the same way as Finglonga. I doubble , tripple , or even quadropple click everywhere when I am testing betas just to see what suprises I might find.

Sure, why not? They both (or more) run in their own virtual machine, and since Sun's java is platform independent, should be applicable to any environment either LW or FW is run in.

We learn by taking risks and not depending upon others to put forth the effort of thinking. In this case, what's the worst that could happen? that either it wouldn't work, or you'd have to reboot your machine. Pittance, considering the potential outcome, and now we know that it works (yay!).

Well, actually they may run at the same time, unless they are set up to listen on the same port, in which case the one already running will just pop up.

FrostWire and LimeWire both don't allow multiple instances of them to be run at the same time (wouldn't make sense to do so anyway) and FrostWire/LimeWire cannot really distinguish between a FrostWire and a LimeWire client listening on the standard port...

Combine: Pick random port if port is in-use. And change the mutex for frostwire.

(i believe the random port code for in-use ports has already been implemented (mainline?), so all we have to do is change the mutex )

I run fw under osx. I have copied the lw classic theme and put it in the fw preferences. after that i trashed lw, so there is no possibility that its lw thats starting. and now its the same thing that you are describing. the conclusion is that the lw logos that you are seeing are included in a theme pack you are using. i don't mind the lw logos...i know i'm running fw..i think its the same thing with you for some reason.
