Im having a problem with frost wire...need help!

Hi, i have recently set up frostwire but when it came to searching a message popped up saying 'frost wire is currently connecting to the network. Your search may not return many results until you are fully connected to the network.'
The anoying thing is that i have waited for it to be connected for hours even though it is connected according to the status in the top left corner.

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. How much ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?
9. Who is your isp provider (Internet Service Provider)?
10. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.
11. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.
These details are vital if you want us to find out what your connection problem is.

BTW Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other)? You need to allow access for port 6346, gnutella & frostwire.

Fixed It!

hi, thank you so much, frost wire works for me now because i went through the questions you sent. All i had to do was turn off my personal firewall. Now I can travel the world listening to my music which will keep me sane during the long flights. Thanks a lot!

I hate to spoil it for you but answers may not be as easy as that.
Turning off the firewall completely may not be a wise thing to do (especially if you use Windows).
You can try the guides for configuring firewalls for lim... er frostwire, that are provided here: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml

I know, I know, it's the LW site but they're virtually identical.

No multiple posts, thanks. 1 post in 1 thread is enough.

Getting around ISP blocking

I am sorry if I am out of turn in forum, I am new to this. I had use P2P programs in the past like Kazza, but stopped since they had spyware. I heard about limewire and wanted to try it, but had no luck connecting. I fixed my firewall (microsoft) to allow limewire and set my router linksys wrt54g per instructions from the forum and still got firewall indictator and no bars on limeware display. Per call to my ISP provider they tell me they do no allow limewire, is there a way around their blocking? This is so unfair since I am paying for the bandwidth and I can change providers since they are the only high speed available in my rural area. Is there anything I can do? Thanks for the help.

** You could also try connecting thru a higher port such as between 49152 - 65535. ie: go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewalls & change ports there. Change yuour firewall and/or router port forwarding (if any) accordingly
*** Try to use a proxy; see here
