general questions from a newby

1) what is bitrate?

2) what is leaf node?

3) what is ultrapeer?

4) in library, what does 28/434 mean under uploads? and also what does hits refer to and locations?

That's all of my questions for now. I'm sure I'll have some more.

Thanx,
Cattitude

Hi Cattitude,

1) Bitrate refers to how much a song has been compressed. The more it's compressed, the lower the bitrate and quality. So a 320 bitrate is higher in quality (and size) than a 128. 128 is roughly CD quality. This is a really basic explanation & I'm sure other people out there can give you a much better one!!!

2) and 3) Have a look at http://gnufu.net. Go for number 1 in the table of contents. This explains heaps.

4) The left figure is how many time's that file's been successfully downloaded. Right figure is how many times a download has been attempted. Hits shows how many times the file's been displayed as a search result. Locations shows the number of hosts from which you downloaded the file and the number of hosts who've uploaded the file.

When you have more questions, try using the search (top right, between faq and home). It's really good:D

Cheers!
