Slow Downloads

Hello everyone, this is my first post since joining frostwire. I'm having problems. The downloads seem to be taking forever. I looked at some previous posts and alot of it was a bit too technical for me however I did follow the suggestion for the internet connection firewall where I had to add Gnutella and it gave me an IP address to enter. I did this yesterday and everything worked perfectly and went really fast but now its gone slow again and when I went in to check, the IP address had been changed everytime I change it, it changes back I also deleted it the whole thing and added it again but it keeps changing the IP address. Any help would be greatly appreciatted. I windows XP with a 1.1 Mbps broadband connection.

Hi Wendy

How often does it change?

Some Internet Service Providers give you a different IP every time you log on. Could this be your situation?

Hello

It changes straight away. I change the IP address click ok to everything go straight back in and its changed. Do you think this is why downloading takes so long?

OK. That means it's not your ISP, but somehow wherever you are entering the IP, that box is not allowing it.

I don't recognize your system, so if you post those details, maybe someone will recognize what is going on.

Cheers

Try entering a port number, like 6346 rather than an IP address. Maybe that will help

it could be the upload from the users to you with it being slow..everyone has different connections.

you may be behind nat if you use random port mapping (dont know if this random port mapping applies to frostwire)

open your ports also.
