8 hosts vs 10 hosts

some1 said the number of hosts to swarm from is hard coded in LW/FW and the nubmer 10 can only be reached if using LW PRO.
Well, isnt LW/FW open source software? Shouldnt it be possible to easily change that number in frostwire from 8 to 10.

If you know how to write code it is.

Damn so you basically just got FW Pro Free...I wish I knew how to code :D

No I do not know how to write code I use Frostwire basic. Although I also have LimeWire Pro and I do pay for it every 6 months. I have also donated to the FrostWire team. And will gladly donate again if the need arises. There are cost associated with any kind of development. After all time is money I do believe in what LimeWire and the Frostwire teams are doing.

And since I am on the subject Thanks Frostwire Team for your time, efforts and $ on the FrostWire project it is appreciated.

FrostWire was originally started because of the position LimeWire is in and the direction they may eventually have to go with their software. FrostWire will preserve the original Idea of the LimeWire development.

I do not know how long they will be able to provide their services at a free gratis nor do I care. If the time comes that they need help then I and hopefully others will provide the help needed.

Well I guess I got a little off subject but what the hell Thanks guys;)

i dont think it takes much programming skills to change that. i'll have to check it out. i know this aint C++ but programming logic should be the same.

I'm gonna have to test that one.

And to Nite: If you figure out how to like recode the Source Code, can you like teach me :P

THANK YOU!!!

sure i'll teach you, just have to 'teach' myself first :)

Ahhh yes, the sweet tasting nectar of frostwire *cough*pro?*cough*... :D

I've been debating this in my head if frostwire should increase the downloading host numbers by 2. (this would be equivalent to the download speed as limewire pro.)

Maybe I need a little financial incentive. :p

If you make it free, LimeWire LCC will totally be pissed :p

I don't care if you build me or anybody else a pro version or not but if you or the frostwire team need a donation PM me. Or create a STICKY. It would be nice to have a place where we could send a PayPal donation to. I give LimeWire $14.95 twice a year I see no reason not to support FrostWire. I for one think you all deserve our support.

I will have to think about it. We appreciate your moral support though.

et voilą March 16th, 2006 04:28 PM

NO. I'm categoric, FW will respect LW basic settings, there is NO chance of changing that, except if we want to lure users to save Gnutella "IF" LW starts filtering unlicenced content.

So NO. That's it. Upping IS no good with current technology, plain and simple.

Am I clear ultracross? There is no way I'll jump into that sort of promotion.

That was a joke.... ;)

[edit] and DAMN et_voila... you took the bait quickly.. hehe. Just so I can be clear, I seriously doubt I will change the speed settings. et_voila and greg would hate me for it. Although there isn't much harm in changing it. If LimeWire does it for profit, I don't see why we can't do it for free. I can also see the fine line of behaving well and being greedy. Maybe an increase of one host after the modem setting. (This is very hypothetical)

BUT! I will not change anything to increase the number of ultrapeers that frostwire connects to. Three ultrapeers is the max. It would even be nicer to bring the number down to two or even one, but a redundancy is important.

Kmag is working on a simppable patch for the QRT (the QRT simppable settings can be set in increments of 64, 128 and 256k I believe). Kmag tells me that a 256k QRT is the most optimal setting, even though limewire is currently held at 64k--this is the most optimal for limewire. (BearShare proved 256k QRT's are more optimal)... Blah blah, So anyways we will be very safe with 3 UP connections. Connecting to Four or more UPs is just greedy and problematic with higher QRT's.
