I have had this problem to, I go to change the skin in the menu and it says the file doesnt exist or something to that effect. I downloaded the green theme from that link and dropped it in the frostwire theme folder then restarted fw hit refresh skins but it didnt even show up. Have any of you with vista 32 bit gotten this to work?

Lord of the Rings November 7th, 2008 07:38 AM

Check http://www.gnutellaforums.com/limewi...e-answers.html _ and _ Vista prefs folder: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/genera...der-vista.html

my frostwire

DEREK4024 January 11th, 2009 04:44 PM

my frostwire doesnt even have a themes folder. is that normal

Are you sure that you're looking in the right place?

For XP
C:\Documents and Settings\your username\Application Data\FrostWire\themes.
The Application Data folder's hidden by default, so you'll have to show hidden files & folders first...start > control panel > folder options > check the 'show hidden files & folders' button > apply > ok.

For Vista C:\Users\your username\AppData\Roaming\FrostWire\themes
The App Data folder's hidden by default, so check out the thread below about how to show hidden files & folders & how to find the preferences folder in Vista (the preferences folder is named FrostWire & the themes folder should be within that).
LimeWire Pref Folder in Vista (this link refers to LimeWire but it's the same for FW);)

Oh. I thought you said that you were having trouble finding your themes folder:blink:

Check out these threads. They refer to LimeWire but same goes for FW.

Note: for Frostwire rename your .zip to .fwtp or it won't be recognised!!
Then just "refresh skins" and it should come up.

TheFakeSheikh March 8th, 2009 11:12 PM

Am i right in saying that FrostWire uses the exact same themes as LimeWire, extensions and all?

AaronWalkhouse March 8th, 2009 11:38 PM

It's *.fwtp instead of *.lwtp. Aside from that, yes, it's all the same.

TheFakeSheikh March 9th, 2009 07:53 AM

What about if you download a LimeWire skin for FrostWire and just change the extension?

AaronWalkhouse March 9th, 2009 12:48 PM

I think it will work. I haven't tried it but I don't see any difference in the contents.

TheFakeSheikh March 9th, 2009 02:32 PM

Cool in that case go here hehe... smoothkidrizz's deviantART gallery :D:D:D:D:D

I can help....

Open--My computer (before you move on click on tools/folder option/view/show hidden files and folder then apply and ok) now open C drive/documents and settings/owner/application data/frostwire/themes....
now leave that window then open another window and find the location where u download/saved the theme that u like, then drag drop/move that file to the theme folder (the first window that u open) now the important part...right click on the theme file that u just drag drop/move and rename it (SAMPLE..black theme.fwtp) remember just change the last part right after the dot to fwtp. Now open ur frostwire then click view/skin/refresh skin...now again click view/skin you should see the theme that u just download. Note some theme doesnt work so just keep looking...
I hope that solves it coz thats what i did..

Try here for Windows: https://sabercathost.com/folder/1231...stWire_Windows

Check http://www.gnutellaforums.com/limewi...le-images.html for a quick reference to what skin is what. I cannot recall if that is a complete list but there's over a hundred sample images.

I forgot one of the previous host sites closed down earlier in year, and the other host site hosting skins requires membership of that host site to download. Thus I've uploaded them to two other sites to cater for this within the last few minutes.

I hope you are referring to FrostWire4 Skins and not Windows system desktop images.

Sorry, but these skins only apply to FrostWire version 4 which runs on the Gnutella network as well as having basic torrent support.

From what I've read, FrostWire 6 dropped the changeable skin concept. I might be wrong. Even if they do still have some kind of changeable skin support, the FrostWire 4 skins will not be compatible.

Starmon August 27th, 2019 01:49 PM

Well that explains that, thank you for the FILL IN.... I'm not CODER, so Leaving for another PNP with changeable skins !! Thanks again, LotR
