Cannot connect to Frostwire on my laptop, but my desktop will connect...

I just bought a laptop and downloaded frostwire for it. I have the latest version on my laptop(4.13.5) and i turned off windows firewall and turned off avg firewall and it wont connect. My desktop connects perfectly fine with frostwire. Here is all my info

1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) Windows Vista
2. What firewalls you have? Windows and AVG
3. How much ram? 2GB
4. Hard Disk space available? 250GB
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) Comcast Cable
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Arris modem from comcast (model # TM402P/110)...Netgear router(i dont think it has a model number)
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? Home
8. What version of FrostWire (FW) & Java do you have? (Go to FW's menu Help>About FW...) Will show both FW & Java version. 4.13.5
9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? Comcast(i think that is an isp?)
10. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. i have a desktop with frostwire, but i am unable to connect on my laptop when my desktop is turned off as well
11. Is this a your 1st try at FW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. ive been using frostwire on my desktop for a while
12. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of FW's interface? Yes

Set FrostWire on each computer to use different port numbers manually in
Tools/Options/Advanced/Firewall Config Use the same number in both slots on that page for
each one, but make sure your laptop is using a different port number than your desktop.

In the Windows network setup for each computer, go into the properties for the TCP/IP
protocol and change it from automatic setup to manual and lock down the internal IP address
for each computer so they are always the same. Detailed instructions on that are here:
How To setup a Static IP Address

Once you've done both of those things take a closer look at that Westell router to see if it's
model number is in this list and follow the instructions for LimeWire:
Port Forwarding Guides by Router

If you get this done both computers will be at full speed without a firewall in the way.

I will try this when i get home. Can i just do this on my laptop instead? would changing an ip address to static interfere with any other configurations or programs on my computer?

If you are using AVG complete with firewall then you should turn of the Windows Firewall

As for your router, it is very important that you find out what kind it is and how to forward it. Whether it came with your internet subscription or your bought it seperately, you should have got some kind of guide on how to access it and set it up.

The gateway IP for the router you will find when looking at ipconfig /all (properly explained in the first link in Aaron Walkhouse's post. Be sure to read carefully the things in both those links as one mistake is enough to have it not work. A good idea would be to have the guides handy on one computer and configure the other.

And last but not least. If done properly it will not interfere with other programs, but rather speed up browsing etc. from not having to find the DNS servers manually.

Remember that if you want to set up static IP and portforward the Desktop also, then use different ports/IP for each computer. And when it comes to portnumbers, anywhere in the 50000-65000 range should be good.

That's probably a version with automatic router config by uPNP.
What's the latest FrostWire version number?
