Help! Downloads work fine, then all stall to 0 kb/s!

Hi there,

i've encountered a very strange problem. my frost wire used to run fine all the time, but since a couple of days, it stopped working. i start it up, all previously unfinished downlods are found and started and everything seems to be fine. but after a couple of minutes, all speed goes to 0kb/s, the cpu works 100% (instead of approx. 20% when everything working fine), while the connection ist still turbo-charged an it still says, that it's downloading each file from about 20 hosts. my flatmate, who is also using fw, has got the same problem.

can anyone help? has it anything to do with the fact, that 2 computers linked to one router both use fw at one time? what can we do about it? anyone who knows this problem?

i would be so thankful if anyone could help... :aweof:

greets

toby

i forgot: the problem occurs with torrents. just downloaded an mp3 which i found via frostwire, this works fine.

Users are probably banning you from downloading from them. Use a proper BitTorrent client for torrents. uTorrent and Vuze (Azureus) come to mind.

Edit: Just saw you use OS X, so Vuze it is. uTorrent does not run very well on OS X.

BTW another problem could arise if you are downloading the same torrent and connecting to eachother. You might be downloading from eachother so fast that the harddrive can keep up.

That would be remedied by using a proper client and setting max up/downspeed to what your drives can handle
